I could have done it myself but I wasn't given that option. It is just across the field from me.

You guys live too close to town.  AT&T wants $43,000 to come out here and it's only an 18 mile run.  That price is for copper, fiber is more.  Yea, Go Viasat !  ;o)

That is a bargain compared to the cost for my miserly 2000 feet.

Who lays copper these days??  In desperation I was going to get a T1 line until BellSouth wanted me to pay to lay the copper.

They came around here 15 years ago and laid in the conduit for fiber. It is still there but the fiber was never laid.  There is a manhole cover opposite my house buried under the soil and grass but I know that it is still there, unused.

Sure if I could get cable internet, I wouldn't by satellite internet either. What is the point here?

Hi Brooke

If you're able to get cable internet (aka Xfinity) you are certainly one of the folks that would not be needing satellite internet. We never compete with Xfinity due to the fact that they can continuously expand their network as needed, and do not have high ping/latency.  Satellite is for customers that are not able to get service from cable providers. These are 2 separate technologies so it's not an apples to apples comparison.

A majority of our customers live in very rural areas where cable will not expand to due to low population and the high cost of installation. Some are just outside the reach and CAN get cable but only if are willing to pay a few thousand dollars to run a cable to their homes. Needless to say a good 98% or more of our customers won't have that option available.

I actually have been doing really well with my Freedom plan. I've been quite happily surprised by it. I can't possibly get any other non-satellite service, so there are no other options.

And what does that annoying comment have to do with anything? I mean, for sure, when it comes to Viasat, YMMV, but...

Makes more sense than telling rural people to sign up for Xfinity.

Well, congratulations Miss Obvious. It if you purchased this service before running to the God Almighty Xfinity, then I guess you didn't do your homework and see what services are available to you. Some of us are not so lucky to have real internet service in our area and don't have an option. So you can take you Xfinity and have a Coke and a smile and shut the hell up!

Pretty bad when Xfinity trolls satellite internet boards to try and promote service!!!!!

Wow... I knew what you were doing wayyyy up there but I kept my mouth shut.  Yes, what you have been saying is in harmony with everything else being dumped here.  What you said makes as much sense as what they said.  Well done. +1 for you.   :o)
