Why can't I get my kindle to connect? "Searching for IP address" then get a "DHCP Error"

Other devices work with my wifi. It can find the wifi, I try the wifi password, but i continually get those messages. It's actually been several months. It is my son's kindle. Please help....

Are there enough IP addresses set up on your router?
Is there a software update available for your Kindle?
Have you checked the Kindle website for someone else having the same issue?
