I check my speed at all hours and never get over 5mps. I really need it faster. I run my business from my house.

Arthur,  There are many reasons for slow speeds.  Please send your account and contact information to exedelistens@viasat.com. We will review your account.  In the mean time try these troubleshooting steps to see if this helps. http://help.exede.net/articles/General/Troubleshooting-slow-internet-speeds

Have you checked at 2:00AM? I get better speeds late at night but terrible during early evenings. But on The bright side, you are getting up to 25 Mbps.

It depends on your plan. If you have the new unlimited plan or you have not went over your data cap then it's because of the good old fashioned telecommunications con artistry. The "speeds up to" clause. They offer you speeds up to 12 mbps, 25 mbps, or 30 mbps. 4 mbps or even 56 kbps would constitute "up to" those speeds.

Talked with tech support. they had me plug directly into modem Did a test and got OVER 30mps. WOW. Their wireless modem was an issue. Hook my own wireless modem up and now I get over 30 download and it's 6:30 pm central. My faith has been restored for now. So, their wireless modem gets me 5 while MY wireless modem gives me 30.

Many others have reported the same issue and found by using a separate wireless router  things work much better.

Seems to be a lot of issues with the 2nd generation Exede modem.  Heat, performance issues, etc.  The 1st generation has been pretty good for me.  Hopefully the 3rd generation modem will be an improvement of the 2nd.
