Where did my 10GB data go in TWO (2) days?

Hi Pam. A lot of times things running the background like system updates can surprise you and use a huge chunk of data. Can you email us with your account info at exedelistens@viasat.com? we can look more in-depth at usage and see what happened

I have called Exede numerous times and it is always the same story:  I am told I don't understand what is using my data.  We are in the same boat, data just dumping out of our plan, in November we used just over 6 gigs in the entire month.  In Dec, same people at home, same devices, actually out of town a couple days and it metered us at 6 gigs in 5 days!!  A 500% increase.
I am beyond frustrated with this company.

The only way to absolutely test for data leakage is to disconnect everything from your modem and then check your Exede data usage with a different ISP provider.  For example, use your ISP at work or McDonald's.  Trying to use your Exede modem to check usage when you reconnect it can use over 100 MB per minute by a data starved computer.  You will have data usage before you can even get control of your desktop.

I have used over 10GB of data in a matter of 2 or 3 hours.  At full speed you would be amazed how fast it can go.

no the modem can do the catch up without a lan cable in the back of it as long as it stays powered on. normally I do not even use 10 gig per month until the past few months , simply checking email a few times a day. I have checked from public wifi before and surprise I still used data sitting at mcdonalds and pizza hut a few times. and as far as full speed I rarely see 6mbps  on a good day usually between 2-4.  modem continuesly drops packets and loses sync currently it shows Loss of Sync Count 800.

We value all our customers, Josh.  They are the reason for our existence. Brian, JEP, and Bev are all correct.  Unplugging the modem is not the answer. Data that was used may not have been reported so when you plug in back in, it appears and customers assume it is not correct. If there is anything we can do to assist you with your data issue, please send an email to exedelistens@viasat.com.  Also  with the faster speed, you do go through data more quickly since you are able to surf the internet faster.

unplugging the lan cable from the back of it, it can still do what it has to do with the satellite. funny how I have had data left over every month until the past few months. my laptop also keeps track of data useage .
