Unless you're in a VERY limited part of the country, I wouldn't hold my breath. Also, I think anyone that would have told you that has no way to actually know.

I was told by several people that work for you that it was coming soon... If that is the case they need to be trained better.

my wife and I were also lied to by a rep at exceed over 1 1/2"years ago about the freedom plan. obviously it never happened. nothing but lies, overcharges, supposedly using 30 gb is 6days for or last six months of service. worst iP I've ever used! we went to rise broadband, absolutely impressed. instead of $160+ per month for 30 gb of horrible service, we now get 300 gb of consistently 20mg service for $60 per month. we haven't gone over once in 5 months, but if we do its only $3 per 10 gb block vs. exceeds $10 per gig. I can't wait to get in on a class action lawsuit against exceed, they can't lie and steal from customers forever without paying the piper! it was the longest most expensive 2 year contract I've ever been locked into, thank God I'm not trapped by exceed anymore!!!

Don't expect any major plan changes until the new satellite launches and is put into service next year.

In the meantime, it pays to look at other options that may be available. New one's become available on a frequent basis. Even if in contract it might be beneficial for some to eat the early termination fees.

Rise is but one option, especially with the Connect America Fund. It's amazing (not) how fast companies can roll-out broadband to cost-prohibitive areas that they otherwise wouldn't when little to no risk is involved when using other peoples money. Even appears Rise dipped into the taxpayer trough a wee bit. To those who see and will see the benefits of the FCC's Connect America Fund, you're welcome... I and others never will ;)

Rise bought our local WISP. We had tried to get it before Rise bought them out but unfortunately it's line of sight only and there's a LOT of trees between me and them.

WISPs are useless where I live, way too many hills, many covered with trees. I think that WISPs are more useful in the flat country.

Unfortunately what Old Labs said is most likely true. We may see it pop up here or there in some areas but most likely the next time we see the Freedom plan or others like it will be following ViaSat 2 launch at the end of the year. Now there was one time when we were going to use SpaceX to launch our satellite that we'd have launched around this time, we fully anticipated a summer launch but they had setbacks (aka the rocket blew up in testing and severely delayed the launch) so we found a new company to get ViaSat 2 up ASAP and will use SpaceX for ViaSat 3 in a few years time. Unfortunately with rocket launches ASAP means several months because rocket planning and everything has to be considered and there's a lot that goes into it. If we could do it sooner we probably would but we sort of have to wait. We're more than ready for this launch, we may want it more than the customers even. Stay tuned, I expect that closer to launch time we'll announce some plans.

They have a launch date on a rocket. Unless something happens that's when it will launch. It was supposed to go up sooner but that program had a blow up, got delayed and Exede had to go to someone else. These launches are planned and scheduled many months in advance. There's nothing Exede can do to speed it up and a lot of things that could happen totally out of Exede's control that could delay it. I would imagine that Exede wants this launch to go more than we do as they have a LOT of money on the table riding on it.
