Unhappy with service

We tried for a while and quit but with you being basically the only game in town we were forced back . We came from Northern Virginia where internet was wonderful and easy, it was not something you had to worry about. Instead our community has found itself 15 years behind of everyone around us and a company that knows that they hold the keys. There is no customer service, cheating customers out of what is advertised and secretly  and quietly throttling the sights. We have complained to the FCC and I implore all unhappy customers to do so as well. Throttling and demanding higher prices is wrong, unfortunately some of the community have never had better. Your time is limited and I personally hope we are the definitive reason a class action lawsuit is filed against you. Business practices are one thing, stealing is something entirely. Its time the little guy stands up to you guys for a change

Hi Shannon

Please send an email to us at exedelistens@viasat.com if you feel that there's something we can do to better assist you.

With the limitations of satellite internet we impose data limits (we can only hold so much bandwidth and to expand would mean launching a new satellite...which we are on April 25th), We also have a higher ping rate than you would find with other forms of terrestrial based providers since the signal is going to space and back as opposed to the end of the block and as a result we only offer our service in areas where cable or DSL are not offered as a means to give people access to high speed internet where they may not have options outside of dial up. Unfortunately a lot of the internet evolved over the last 3 or so years where streaming started to become popular, and so on and with the limitations of satellite internet it wasn't something that our customers could do a lot of without going over their limits.

With that said with the launch of ViaSat 2 next month, we will be able to double our ENTIRE bandwidth to allow for more robust data plans which can allow for things like streaming to be something our customers can enjoy.

We have a launch date for ViaSat 2 for April 25th (weather/launch conditions pending) some time after that after communications are established and everything we can see the new plans. I'd saw roughly summer but the best thing to do is periodically check exede.com with your zip code because those Freedom plans have been like Whack-a-Mole with when and where they pop up.

It takes years to design, build and test the satellite itself. A launch service must be selected and a launch window procured.

Launch vehicles can have issues that cause delays.

Launching a satellite is not like a trip to the corner store.

Oh don't worry, their service will never change, they silence customers and users such as myself for "trolling" when they were changing my plan and service without my consent, and the consent of many others, they've been blocking websites for months now and I always get the same answer when I ask for help "buy more data" their practice is pathetic and their support team never knows what they're talking about and have hung up on me multiple times because I know more about networking than they do, and I'm just a student in networking, they've tried scamming me multiple times, especially when my internet goes out, they've tried telling me my router is broken and I need to buy I new one which was never the case. When you can break away from these people, do it as fast as possible.

There are ways to complain and complain loudly without getting your posts censured.

It is true that they recently changed the algorithms that count data in the Evolution plan it doesn't change the fact that streaming video while out of data was doable.

There is such a thing as monitoring your data use so not to have exhausted your data allowance in the first place making the whole thing a moot point.

Wasn't the whole idea around the freedom plan to make is so users could browse websites freely? I don't use my internet for streaming, I merely use it to check my email (which takes 2 minutes to load now thanks to this amazing "update) Or to go study for my college course which is also impossible now. Please also tell me how I can use 10GB of data in less than a day when the speeds are still horrid when my data is reset, didn't know barely loading Gmail used 10GB'S

^^ willing to bet they suspend his posting priviliages for that and probly mine for commenting lol but in a way he is rite . here is the test I have done :  right as a fresh month reset (and at late nite free zone) unplugged the lan cable from the back of the modem, left it unplugged several days (modem still powered on) logged in on public wifi with cellphone on myexede.net/dashboard and low and behold it showed I used a lot of data..(even though at home it has been unplugged at a fresh data reset and on the late nite free zone) so tell me agin how someone stole my wifi or windows updates done it? I mean it is pretty obves when your lan is unplugged and the lights are blinking like crazy showing "activity" and yes most do not know that is why they are blinking...
