Viasat Browser won’t download

I tried to have the Viasat Browser downloaded onto my iPad and it won’t allow me to. It says that there’s a purchase fee for it, and the account is in my daughters name. She’s in Italy with the US Military Services and pays for all of the families cells and Tablets through Verizon. I have Viasat as my internet provider and wondering why I can’t get the browser. Thanks for your help.

its says viasat browser is for viasat customers. i think you need to be connected to the viasat wifi (or whatever you called your wifi) in your home or your daughters home in this case. try turning the mobile data off for the ipad then connect the ipad to the viasat wifi (or whatever you called it) when you or your daughter signed up for viasat as customers. then try downloading it off the ipad WITHOUT the verizon mobile data. IF the verizon ipad ONLY has mobile data and NOT wifi... then... i uhhh... guess your kinda out of luck ;-;

It may be that only downloads of a certain size are allowed on cellular data and, the iPad will need to be connected to wifi to download the browser.

Hi Frannie,  To download it onto your iPad, please go to the Apple App Store and search for Viasat Browser (not to be confused with the Viasat Internet app or Via Browser).  You don't need to be connected to Viasat's network to download it but the Apple app store needs to believe that you are in the US.  Also, please note that there is no purchase fee for it!

If you are continuing to have difficulty downloading it, please send us a note at browser@viasat.com.

Thanks!

What version is your iOS?. Older iPads will not accept updates beyond 9.x.
Viasat Browsers will not download to iOS earlier than 11.x according to David the Browser Guy.

Frannie,
If you are interested in pursuing this issue, go to your iPad and tap "settings".
Then tap "general". Then tap "info".
Halfway down this screen is "version". It will be several numbers separated by periods. Examples are 9.5.3 or 11.1.2.
What is your version? If the first digits are less than 11, you may still be able to update your iPad operating system (iOS) software, depending on how old your iPad is. You  may be able to update your version using this option (Update Software)  in the "settings menu". If you are able to update your version to 11.x.x, then you should be able to download the Viasat browser.
If you cannot download version 11.x.x, then it is due to having an older iPad.
