Very disatisfied. Worthless tech and service

i was to have a service call today. The service guy called me and said i needed a new router. i bought a google wifi. Then I spent 30 minutes on the phone trying to get directions on how to replace my router, keeping the viasat modem. The tech had no clue how to help me. worthless. I very much want out of my contract. viasat has been trouble since the beginning.

How would the service tech know you need a new router? And anything beyond the modem is beyond the tech's responsibility.
