Yes, PlayOn works with Amazon Prime, so long as you have a Prime account.

I have a Prime account but when I try to access the videos a screen will come up and say folder is empty. I don't know what that even means but I never get any videos to show up. I've had Netflix in the past and had no trouble recording movies with it. As you might know the only support you get with Playon is thru emails and I'm trying to get help from them but it's pretty frustrating to not be able to speak with someone.

Are you using PlayOn Cloud or PlayOn?

I record both Netflix and Amazon using the Playon software.  Amazon navigation is a bit difficult using the Playon desktop but if you know the name of the title you want to record, it is pretty easy to search for whatever you want.

I've found that Amazon video quality is a lot more sensitive to your bandwidth than Netflix is.  No worries though.  Just make sure you record after midnight and it will work fine.

Heck I didn't think of that. That seems like a roundabout way of having to access videos but I think that may work. I can go on Amazon and find videos and type them into the box at Playon and record. I've got videos set up for recording in the free time this evening so we'll see how that goes. That may have been what Playon was trying to tell me but it wasn't at all clear. Thanks for the info. I've tried everything but just didn't think of this. DUH!!!

Joan, you might also want to consider Playon Cloud. Playon Cloud is a service offered by Playon which requires a mobile application to use (web application is supposedly also in the works).

The advantage of Playon Cloud is that Playon actually records the video for you and when they are done, they send you a link where you can go download the video, either from your computer or on your mobile device.

Advantages:
  1. Frees your computer (it does not need to be on because they are doing the recording for you).
  2. No need to do your Playon streaming / recording during the LNFZ - since they are recording for you, it does not impact your data cap.
  3. Although you do need to download (once you have received the link), downloads of videos uses far less bandwidth than streams of videos. This is especially true with Amazon.
  4. If you have access to another broadband connection, through work, family, friends, etc. - you can download while you are there (of course, you'd want a laptop to make this most convenient for you - or you could download to your mobile device). This is what  I do... I have two remote offices away from home and will do my downloads when I'm working there. Also, my kids all have cable and so when I'm visiting them, I will sometimes download recorded videos.
  5. If there are issues, they just Email you to let you know - and then they try again until it's good.
The Playon Cloud applications (iOS or Android) are free. The service costs .40 a recording, but they always are running specials, usually at .20 a recording. I generally purchase blocks of 100 recording credits for $20. I like it because of the advantages I've listed here.

You can always get $5 worth of recording credits and try it to see if it fits your purposes.

By the way, I also have Playon software, which is how I came to learn of Playon Cloud. I hardly use it anymore, since I've moved to cloud recording.

I hope this is helpful - good luck to you!

Dan, it’s a preference. I set it at HD, which is 720p and the highest res available right now. I don’t know if they have plans to support 1080p or UHD at some point in the future, but currently 720p is the highest res available.
