Yes.  The 12mbs plans do not require the newer Boost/Wi-Fi modem.  But be aware that the Bronze Plan has video throttling to around 380p.

I was told yes. I'm on the same but plan to change to the Bronze 12 later this month.

Thanks guys for your quick input.  I also have the Lifetime Lease on Equipment (on time $299 charge for modem , ie no monthly charge for the modem), if I ever wanted to go to the Boost modem plans, do you know if I would be charged again for the modem?

I was not charged for the modem but it is an extra 10 dollars a month for boost 25 which is what I have.

Don't go to boost. If you would make another change go to a plan with the new Viasat 2 modem. It will be a much better option in the long run if you decide to upgrade.

thanks, that is pretty much where I'm settling down on now.  Until their systems get re balanced as people shift around among new satellites and plans, no reason to be in a rush to change.  If enough load gets reallocated to viasat 2, my current liberty plan will work a lot better and I can save on the extra monthly charges that the unlimited plans incur.

Don't ditch your Liberty 12 plan.  I'm on a good beam that isn't congested and I routinely use between 100 to 300 gb a month.  As a nice bonus, my video quality isn't reduced to a lower resolution.

I used Internet Download Manager and Playon to download large files and video during the late night free zone.

If you are on a beam that is congested, just be patient, and things will eventually get better as people are moved to Viasat 2.
