Slow Evening Speeds and Viasat Couldn't Care Less

I know that there have been thousands of posts on this subject over several years, but I'm starting a new one. The reason being is that since Viasat started it's "unlimited" plan my speeds have gone to "hell in a hand-basket"! Like a lot of you, I get great speeds during the day but around 6 PM--not so much. My speeds are usually < 2 mbps and a lot of times < 0.5 mbps. I have called customer service countless times. The folks on the front lines are worthless because all they do is go through their script with you. One time when I called in I told the guy what I had already tried (including doing the ipconfig/release, ipconfig/renew and ipconfig/ dnsflush) by reciting their script back to them. He said if I had done all of those things that there was nothing else he could do for me. Of course, like all of you, I get the company line of "congestion". I say that's self-inflicted because their customer base has most likely increased significantly since offering their unlimited plan. They get the increased revenue and we get slow speeds. I requested more than once that they elevate my problem and they never did. I was promised call back from a supervisor and, you guessed it, I never got one. I even tried the excedelistens route but all I got was "copy and paste" reply. I replied back asking them to actually read my entire email and then answer me. Of course they never did. The best answer was being told that if I upgraded to the new unlimited plan that my problems would be solved? I wonder how many people have swallowed that load of crap and gotten locked into another 2 year contract? Obviously I am frustrated just like thousands of others. I just wish someone from Viasat would be truthful about the problem. Like many of you, I don't have any other choices for internet--but if I did, I'd be gone in a heart beat! I know that nothing will change as a result of this post, but I sure needed the cathartic release!

Amen, brother. We’ve all been screwed. Don’t listen to the people when they tell you “Stay in your 12gb data limit” that lasts seven hours and gets sucked up by my toaster. It’s crap and they just want you to spend $15 dollars on another 1gb.

I agree that primetime speeds degraded with the inception of the "unlimited" plans that rolled out a little over a year ago. They offered too much priority data in them. They significantly downgraded the priority data levels a few months later most likely because of the slow primetime speeds.

The impact of Viasat-2 hasn't really made a difference for a lot of customers either.

What plan are you on?  Have you used up all of your priority data?

Freedom (New) with 150 gigs. So no, I haven’t (and never do) used all my priority data. And with speeds as slow as they are, hell will have to freeze over before I’d ever use it all!

Surely there's some way this can be your fault?

Steve F. Just pray to the Lord almighty that you will have a faster, better, and a less screw job service one day.
