Why can't I get a return box before cancellation?

I am moving and will discontinue service 9/23/2016.  I will actually be leaving 9/25/2016, and would like to get the box to return the  modem and the part off the dish, but was told that they will not send me the box until I discontinue service and then it takes about 5 days to arrive.  Why won't Exede send me the box earlier so that I can send the parts right back after termination and avoid  moving it to my new home in another state?  It can't cost Exede more to send the box earlier than later.

Hello Marvin, 

I can certainly understand how frustrating this may be but unfortunately, Exede does not offer the option to mail out return boxes before initial cancelation; nor do we future date disconnections. Your only alternative option would be to ship your equipment independently through UPS. This is not a popular route as you would be responsible for all charges associated with shipping and would take full responsibility if the equipment got damaged.

Interestingly, DISH has no problem in sending the return carton right away a month in advance of termination. This is a reason that I will tell the next owner of our house NOT to use Exede!

Marvin,  You're not the first to voice this complaint. Seems like an easy thing to fix but Exede has not moved on it. I guess they are punishing you for leaving. Exede gets a lot of unjust criticism but because of too many things like this I am unable to defend them when it comes to their customer service.
