People just gripe too much, I love my Exede!

I changed to the Freedom Plan when it was available. 150 GB is more than enough data for us. We stream every single day, play laptop based games, and fiance has his PS4 onling also. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Starz, WWE Network, we subscribe and stream all of those and have plenty of speed. Im very happy with my service and Customer Care has always assisted me when I needed them. My ending conclusion, some people would complain even if they are hung with a new rope. They will have to pry my Freedom Plan from my cold dead hands before I would give it up!

Lucky you the Freedom Plan was available. It is NOT available where I live, and neither is the Evolution Plan that I was on until I mistakenly tried Liberty Plan and found I ran out of data in half the month, but Exede would not let me go back to the Evolution Plan. There was no warning that if I switched from Evolution I could not go back to it.

Well Mr. Wilson, I have the freedom plan and I experience speeds of less than 1Mbps every evening. Essentially, it's like I ran out of data when I still have over 100 Gb left. My advice, don't switch to freedom if it does become available.

So are you implying that people have no ligitiment problems with the service?

oh not at all! I consider myself lucky to not have problems, and if I did start to have problems I would be here griping. I feel lucky to be satisfied, especially after having HughesNet...good grief that was terrible. I live in a very rural town on the prairie, less than 300 in population, we dont even have traffic lights! We have cable available but it is grossly overpriced and really sucky service. I dont need cable, so we decided to give Exede a try and have been happy. Definitely not discounting people that are having problems, not in the least.

Well, I have had Exede freedom plan since last Wednesday. According to exede I should get at least 8 Mbps when it's congested and 1 when I run out of data. I get around.6-.7 Mbps every evening. Never gets over 1 mbps until the wee hours of the morning. After numerous calls and emails, I get no help. Consider yourself lucky. I would be praising them also if I got your speed.

This forum was set up by Exede to help customers with issues they are having. Not surprisingly, it has turned into a place to vent.  The vast majority of Exede customers are very happy with this service. Forums like this give the impression that a lot of people are having problems.  It is VERY rare that a person is going to use the internet all day with no problem and then get on this forum to say how great it was.  That doesn't happen.  If everybody hates Exede and is canceling than I seriously doubt they would continue to build and launch hundreds of millions of dollars worth of satellites in the next few months.  All forums like this give the impression that the company is terrible, it's an unfortunate side effect.  Most complaints are from customers who have used all of their data up and expect to still have unlimited fast internet service.  Stay within your data you are paying for or buy more data when you run out, simple.

I posted this in the Praise forum, where I thought it should go. And yes, we use our Exede every day, heavily, and problems are very rare. I just thought about being happy with my service and wanting to compliment, after making a plan addition through chat and being satisfied yet again.

I do not get near the speed I was told I was going to get within my data plan and I do not get hardly any speed afterwards to which I was told otherwise by the sales rep ...Period. And that's a fact

Lucky you! The grips out here are genuine and I'd like to know how you find it so wonderful. You'd think that with all that investment the company would be a little bit more concerned. Why is it not?

Some people do gripe too much but as has been noted people seldom come on a service to tell others how well it's performing, they usually come on to complain about one thing or another.  It was the same way on the various Hughesnet forums when I had that service.

The problems is twofold for the most part.  First of all a lot of people don't do due diligence before they sign up for the service.  Do you sign a contract for a vehicle purchase or insurance before you read the fine print?  Some don't and then they find out the hard way they should of.  And a lot of people don't do much if any research before they sign up either.

They get the service thinking that it's going to be just like their broadband cable service in town and then are disappointed when the Satellite Internet is slower, not as responsive due to latency issues and then has a drastically lower data cap then they get with cable or fiber based terrestrial Internet.

I use the analogy many times of looking at your Satellite connection as the water pipe coming into your house.  You can run one or two spigots full force but what happens when you do that and you also run the shower, washing machine and flush the toilet at the same time?  Water pressure goes to nothing.

Same way with the Satellite connection.  If Exede 'opened the spigot' all the way the service would slow down to the point of being unusable.  There is only so much bandwidth on each transponder and each spot beam and everyone shares the resource in an equitable way.  You can get commercial or enterprise Satellite Internet with dedicated bandwidth available on demand but your going to pay close to $1000 a month or more for that privilege.

It is what it is.  Satellite based Internet is orders of magnitude more expensive with putting the satellites in orbit and the corresponding earth stations and the subsidized dishes and equipment at each end user, ect.  It's a lot better now than it was years ago with the first one way Satellite Internet [dial up upload and satellite download] and it will be much better yet when the new Satellite comes on line for Viasat.  Looking forward to it.

But as it is Exede performs as expected for the vast majority of it's customers or they wouldn't stay in business very long.  Excede has met or exceeded my expectations in every way but then again I've had a satellite connection for over 10 years so I know what it can do and what it can't.

So bottom line is the contract is worded that you might not get anywhere neAr the download speed you thought you would be getting. Regardless of what anyone has told you. You should not complain. That is how it works out for me.

I get speeds every night since I signed up for freedom that are less than 1Mbps. I think you would gripe at that.

I was told that the plan I chose was "virtually unlimited" by more than one sales person. We are so unhappy with satellite.  I had Xfinity for 20 yrs before moving to an area they don't service.  Trying to watch streaming movies is ridiculous and uses a ton of data.  I thought I did my due diligence but you just never know what your getting until you have to use it.  So unhappy, but I'm afraid we're stuck.  I hate it.  If Xfinity came to my area I switch in a heartbeat.

If you go to the FAQ section of the freedom plan on their website, you will find other lies about what speeds to expect. There are a ton of people that feel your pain.

Wow, how much $$$ is Michele Hudson paying for 150GBs? I'm paying $80 (approximate) for 10GBs.

I got the 12 Mbps plan with 150 gb at 69.99. I asked about moving to 25 Mbps plan but the rep said my speeds would still suck during the evening's.

The website also says that after you use more than 150gb, your download speed will be reduced to 1-5 Mbps or more until the end of your billing cycle. I have 140gb left and I can't get above 1 in the evenings. At this point, I would be happy with "out of data speeds". I feel like I am getting ripped off.

I'm paying $125 for the 150GBs which is barely enough and we can't stream movies or shows without it sucking all the data.
Even if streaming in HD that's still approximately 25 average length movies.  If streaming in SD that's approximately 200 average length movies.  If streaming in LD that's well over 400 average length movies.  This, of course, is without doing anything else, like browsing, which would maybe use 2GB to 4GB per month, depending on what pages you were going to and how often.

I have a mainly used desktop, a less used laptop, and a much less used notebook.  All three are kept up to date, with Windows 10 on the first two and Windows 8.1 on the last, and all of the 3rd party programs on them are kept up to date, as well.  I browse, pay bills, shop, use Facebook and play occasional YouTube videos.  Rarely do I ever use more than 5GBs per month in total.

The streaming I could do with 150GBs.  I can just imagine.

Hi Elise, We pay 99.99 a month for the Freedom Plan, and I also have the Boost 25 too. My total bill with everything runs 117.00 a month.

I can't get Exede at all, though even if it became available I would probably stick with what I have.  That's nothing against Exede, but only that I have no problems with what I presently have.

Exede has over 650,000 residential customers, most of which are very happy with their service. Complaints on this forum account for around 100 complaining about slow speeds, and many of them are in DAP for using up their priority data.

If your speed are that low, you may have an equipment problem or are in one of the several beams that are at or near capacity.

My problem is I'm on a congested beam. In other words, they oversold it. Wished I knew that I would be getting speeds of around 1 or less instead of what I thought I was purchasing.

Same thing here. Again, not my problem. I don't care what the problem is, it isn't me. Exede provides the service not me. I'm tired of hearing the input of people who obviously benefit somehow (whether through compensation or just self-satisfaction) telling me Exede is amazing. For me it is not.

Not sure about him, but I've been on exede for almost two weeks. After reading the info and the frequently asked questions section, I pulled the trigger on the freedom plan12mbps. Exede says I should have speeds of 8 during the evenings. (Which I would be thrilled with.) And 1-5 Mbps if I go over. Well, every evening, I have LESS THAN 1Mbps from the time I get home from work until the time I go to bed. I was told two nights ago by a tier 2 rep that I should expect that speed around 8pm. It would cost 345.00 to get out my contract. I could pay it but don't want to. I simply want what I pay for, not speeds I got when I ran out of data on dishnet. I thought I was bettering myself, but I wasn't.

I wish I could change the title of this post, God forbid I ever post any compliments again after this. I understand people are having problems with their services, if I was I would be one very loud bitch about it. I just like to give credit where credit is due, which in my case, it is. i probably do well with my connection because I am way out on the prairie, very little out there and very small town. Im happy with my service, but somehow I think from now on I will just send kudos in an email. I hope all the people in this thread find satisfaction, and if not, find an avenue to remedy it. Best of luck to you all.
