New Plans Too Expensive

I've been a loyal Exede customer for the past 3 years and even though I hated the data caps, I learned to live with them and adjust my usage accordingly.  I'm a poor college student, so I can only afford the cheapest plans, paying around $50-60/month.  I was thrilled to hear about the ViaSat-2 and the new unlimited plans and have been checking the exede website frequently for updates.  Imagine my disappointment today when I discovered the unlimited plans, only to realize that they are unaffordable (Unlimited Bronze is $70 + lease fee =$80 (+tax)).  I highly doubt I'd meet the 150GB priority speed data limit, so I'd gladly pay less for less speed or priority data.

I don't think I'm being unreasonable.  The going rate of broadband internet (cable & DSL) is around 50/month for unlimited/virtually unlimited plans.  Not to mention their speed is as much as 30x faster than Exede.  Just because some customers like myself only have satellite as an option doesn't mean that we should be the victims of price gouging.

Bottom line for any Exede customer reps: are there any plans in the works in the $50-60 range that offer unlimited or even just improved data caps?  If not, there needs to be and I would appreciate it if you would address my concerns to the appropriate channels.

Keep in mind Viasat-2 is a few months from operation yet. I would expect more plans (and perhaps more pricing tiers) once Viasat-2 is operational.

Veteran SatUser is correct. We'll be seeing another round of plans release early 2018 so that's just a few months away.

In the meantime some of the unlimited plans that are being offered now are going to vary in availability and pricing depending on what beam you are in.These plans are still on ViaSat 1.

Where I live, Exede is faster than DSL and is actually cheaper.  If you can get internet for $50 a month that is 30x faster than Exede, why aren't you doing so?

It is a lot more reasonably priced now than what it was 5 years ago. Use to be 25GB for $125+. Freedom and Unlimited (in some areas) is priced below that now today.

No one should believe anything I post. I'm just a troll who happens to be on a good beam. The harsh reality is, it's going to cost Exede a lot more money than what they mentioned for the cost of the satellite and launching it. I would imagine the cost is going to be at least two or three times what they paid to put Viasat 2 to into orbit. They have to pay for the technology in the sky, but they also have to pay for the technology on the ground and the people that run it. Anyone dumb enough to believe my joke about the new service costing $15.99 shouldn't have the right to vote.
