New customer with speed issues after 1 day of service. (Total data used less than 10MB).

I am a new customer (1 day) I made the switch because I wanted to take advantage of the 25Mbps speed or something close to it. Sadly even during non peak hours my average speeds are 3 to 6 Mbps. peak hours 2 to 4 Mbps. occasionally I will see a burst of speed 12mpbs to 14 mbps but it does not last. I am aware that you prioritize speed based on data usage. However, I haven't use 5 megs yet and my speed are slow (non peak 10 am EST). I seriously thinking of switching back to my previous company.. same speeds (between 2 and 6 Mbps) and $ 50.00 less. Also, do you have a tool to test the signal strength from the dish to the satellite. i.e. is my signal strength 50%, 60%, 85%????

Humberto, you can see your signal strength, along with other modem stats by going to http://192.168.100.1/?page=modemStatus

Signal strength should be at least 5, the closer to 10 the better. 

Cable resistance of less than 3.0 ohms is desirable, and the cable attenuation should be as near zero as possible but certainly less than 20.

Signal strength is not really indicative of what your speeds will be. If you think 25Mbps is going to be the rule and not the exception, you are probably not going to be happy with the service. Overall I would expect you to average 10 to 12Mps. So during Primetime you would see speeds as you have reported.

I am aware of the many factors that play a part in the overall speed, Thank You.  The fact remain, is  tough to justify paying over $150.00 for a average speed of 2 to 4 mbps during prime time hours and 4 to 6 mbps during non peak hours.  My concern is that based on my average speed (2 to 6 mbps)  I am receiving the same speeds as the liberty plans for a higher price.

No issues here. 

I pay for speeds up to 5 mbps during the day when the network isn't busy.  I routinely get speeds ranging from 1 mbps to 10 mbps during the day, Monday through Friday.

After 5 pm my speeds usually crawl, but that is the trade off I agreed to when I signed up for Liberty 12.

What area are you in?  We've had really slow speeds in Louisiana due to weather and road closures.  Lots of people stayed home this week, which means a lot more people were at home using bandwidth than normal.  

I have a feeling your speeds will be a lot faster during the day on Monday, perhaps even close to 25 mbps.  Some people have been getting 30 to 45 mbps during the day when the network isn't so busy.

Unfortunately, slower speeds on weekends and evenings are something that is just a reality for all of us until Viasat 2 goes live for everyone.

At least for people like you on unlimited silver and gold plans, you get enough data to actually stream video.  I usually can't do any of that until primetime is over.

I am outside of Richmond Va. I live in the rural area of the county. No subdivision. However, they are a few subdivisions about 3 miles away. They have Comcast broadband. Comcast nor Verizon fios have any interest of extending their service to my area. The county board of supervisors has made that clear.

Humberto I'm just west of Powhatan so we are both on the same beam 329 and let me tell you that it has its moments since it's very congested but with my experience over the past few months it's been a lot better than what it was. I've seen it to where it was slower then dialup but Viasat 2 will help once they start switching people on beam 329 over to the new satellite
