My beam is listed as congested, yet still allows new users. Why?

When calling asking about speed and streaming problems I am told I am on a congested beam. So the beam I'm on has low bandwidth during prime times and is listed as congested in the eSVT tool. So why does my beam still allow new accounts?

Viasat-1 or Viasat-2? What is your location?

Any number of reasons... very little info to go on here.

Viasat-1 and Viasat-2 beams overlap - you may be on one while new customers are being placed on the other. Was like that for awhile on my overcrowded beam, but both are sold out now.

Alternately, congestion during prime time evening hours doesn't automatically imply congestion 24/7/365 - it would probably be bad business practice for Viasat to base its maximum subscriber count based solely on prime time utilization, although most of us would probably like it if they did. Viasat sells bandwidth and as long as some of it is unused (regardless of time of day), they'll continue to sell it.

So I should give up streaming and internet during prime time?

Maybe you can't stream during prime time but there's a variety of options to still beable to watch your shows and movies when you want by downloading them during off peak times. Many of the users on the page do this and if you ask they'll be excited to tell you exactly what they do.

Most likely ViaSat-1 is going to be a loaded beam but we are only installing new users on ViaSat-2 which might be quite open. The beams will overlap

And others hae also reported no coverage of VS2. Viasat just says across the USA. It does not cover the whole of the country.
