My 5G went away

While watching a movie on my smart TV (Samsung) the 5G went away and we had to go to the 2.4G. TV will not "see" the 5G now, only the 2.4. My Windows laptop also will not "see" the 5G anymore.  However, my Iphone and Ipad still see and can connect to the 5G. Had a new modem installed and no change.

Why only the Apple products seeing the 5G?

Most likely you have a weak 5 Ghz WiFi signal in the area of your TV and laptop. The Apple devices may have a better radio in them, thus able to still see the 5 Ghz signal.

The Viasat combo modem/routers have a known problem with weak signals, best solution would be like many of us do, and use a better third party router.

2.4 Ghz Wifi signals travel further than the 5 Ghz signals do, that is why devices lose connection on the upper band before they do on the lower band.

This is exactly right. I have a 5G repeater and even that doesn't do much.

Get a signal strength app. See if you can see the signal right by the TV and see what the strength is. Even then, your mobile device might have a better antenna in them.
