modem lease fee over after contract is up?

how long do we pay a "lease fee" on the modem before we own it? I would think once the contract is up it would be paid in full?

You are not buying the modem, you are leasing it. The lease fee applies for as long as you have the service.

but they have the option to outrite buy the modem for $300 if I am not mistaken?  and you know the next question comeing..

I don't think Exede offers a purchase option.

We do have some lifetime lease options. The modem will still have to be returned if the customer were to ever leave the service.

Last I checked with a local Dealer for my location,  there was 3 options,  1.  Pay monthly lease  2.  Pay a 2 year upfront lease  3.  Pay a Lifetime one time Lease (which was a new option they just started offering at the time)    I am not sure what the total costs are for options 2 and 3.   It was probably 2 or more years that I talked to the installer.

If you choose the monthly lease, you pay the lease fee for the entire time you have the service.
If you choose the 2 year upfront lease,  after 2 years are up you will be put on monthly lease payment for as long as you continue with the service.  (I am not sure if they allow payment of another 2 year upfront lease after the first 2 years) 

These options may have been changed being its been multiple years since I was told them, and may differ by location.

There was a time several years ago to pay for the "Lifetime" lease, but that option is no longer being offered by Exede.

Hi James, unfortunately, like most of our members have mentioned, Exede does not offer the option to buy outright the modem. You are paying the monthly lease fee to lease the equipment for as long as you retain service. For more info please give us a call at 866.945.3258

so the equipment in fact belongs to yall then. so if it needs swapping,or fixing then why do I need to pay anything?

If you have the Easy Care, there is no charge. If not, you are paying the $95 for the service tech to come to your house to fix or replace whatever is needed.

James, If you lease, you are responsible to maintain and repair equipment/ item while it is being used. This is the case for the majority of companies that lease anything.  If the equipment malfunctions and we determine it is not due to the customer, we will replace it.
