It shows my 18 GB are used up in only 16 days and we were gone from home for a week during that time. Something is wrong !

Send an email to exedelistens@viasat.com and they can go over your usage with you and try to help you figure out what type of usage used all your data. Include your account number or the phone number attached to the account.

Other then that make sure all computers tablets and anything else connected is not set to auto update

Could be some program doing updates that you don't realize. There's backup programs that dun doing updates. Also anti-virus programs can run in background doing updates.

Yes there's programs that can use data if your modem is on. When had my Garmin update done there was program had to put on computer. Think it was called Garmin Express. I sat in front of computer and when Garmin GPS was updated I unplugged it from the computer.  Shut down the my browser. Figured everything was okay. Came back about 16 minutes later and had used 1 GB of data. The Garmin Express was running in background but I didn't realize that. So even if you have devices shut down and browser shut down programs can still access the net and use data. You would probably need to have modem turn off or unplugged from computer. I don't use any routers or anything other than modem and printer both attach to computer separately by usb cords.

Well,  I have two laptops that are both wireless.  Wireless router is off and both computers off and I do not allow auto updates on any program I run.   Exede's modem is doing this on it's on.  They even just admitted this over the phone, it can communicate with other sites as long as it is on and rack up data usage.  The only way of stopping it is to turn the exede modem off after every use!
