Does anyone know if the protocol  for Viasat 2 will be IPv4 or IPv6 and are they going to supply a public IP address as they do with Viasat 1?

Thank you

To my knowledge that information has not been released yet. I'm sure we will hear more as the time for Viasat 2 to come online draws closer.

Thanks Bev,
Though it won't make a difference to most people, not having a public IP address such as with
HughesNet is a real deal breaker when you need to access computers or embedded servers on your LAN not to mention that IPv4 / IPv6 dual stack routers are next to impossible to find...and who would want to have to buy another router?

I guess I'll wait and see.

Thanks again.

I thought I would give this question a bump.. Have there been any updates in relation to IPv6 support?

Bump as well.
It seems like some simple questions that a ViaSat employee could answer but if not, maybe someone with ViaSat2 service can chime in?

Hi!

Our service currently does not support IPv6.  I haven't heard any plans to incorporate IPv6, but if/when I do, I'll let you all know!
