I'm looking for an inexpensive unlimited plan.

I don't need even a 12mb connection, but I really need a consistent 5mb connection with an unlimited connection. If I had an unlimited connection with 5mb 24/7, I would be happy. Even if it was an extra $10 a month or so. I just can't see spending over $100 a month, just to have internet. Please update your unlimited plans with 3 different options, 1 for 5mb connection, 1 for 12mb connection, then the 25mb connection like you currently have. I would think the 5mb connection could be still around the $50 a month price range.

I might actually be willing to ditch my Liberty 12 plan if I could get an unlimited 5 mbps plan for the same price.

I agree, I'm used to less than 1mb connection that was constantly disconnecting with DSL and just a consistent 5mb connection 24/7 would be perfect for us. Would be more than enough to watch video and still surf. I wouldn't even need the "Free Zone" overnight.

Of course, I wouldn't want to be forced to use the video optimizer if I changed plans.

Back before Exede actually launched, I saw a presentation where they said they were going to do that type  plans.  But when it actually launched, they had decided to go with the types of plans they have today.  I guess the Marketing types carried the day!

Do you have reliable cell coverage in your area?  If you do check using your cell phone as a hot spot and if you have unlimited data that could meet your requirements you might not need any ISP.  I get 4 to 6 Mbps anytime with verizon, good enough for moving Word, Excel, and Access files around.

About 30 seconds to down load a 5 minute video.

Johnny C. I have no internet here. I tried DSL, but I live about 2 miles beyond it's limits and it was constantly dropping and had a limited 1mbps connection when it did work. I would have to physically move my house about 3 miles to get any type of cell coverage. I live the definition of Rural America. I understand limits, but I still think there should be a valid option for us that is actually affordable. I love my current connection with Exede, it works GREAT! That being said, I don't need 12mbps connection, so the $50 plan I am on works great, until 5pm when they drop it down to the below 1mbps speed. I would gladly pay $50-60 to get a consistent 5mbps connection if it was 24/7. I have unlimited on my cell phone, so if I had coverage here I wouldn't need Exede. This all comes down to cost for me, like every one. A slower, unlimited account would help a lot of people in rural America out. There is always prioritization if they don't want to give full speed to high usage customers, but at least the connection would maintain a good connection all the time.

I even went as far as trying to put up a cell phone repeater and couldn't get signal here. :-/

Via sat 2 should be in operation in the next two or three months. This will free up bandwidth on the current sat and should allow more consistent faster speeds and hopefully continue a recent trend to reduce the cost of some plans. You can always hope another cell tower or technology increase cell phone signals. Short of that I am not aware of any options.

Unlimited and 5meg are two words that do not mesh in the SAT world.

Not sure what that means, I am currently running in my "Liberty Pass" zone and it's 5mbps and no limit. I just wish it was 24/7 instead of from 2am to 5pm. I'd buy a plan that was 5mbps with no peak/non-peak times. I don't really have a need for 12mbps or 24mbps. While those speeds would be great, my needs are not there and the price isn't worth it to me.

Petition your city to get municipal broadband. These leech corporations are not going to give us good service. They're only in it for the money. Best of luck with getting cheap broadband.

Shame on a company for being in business to make money. I guess Gregg works 40 hours a week for free.
