Donna - Hopefully ExedeKarmin can help you.  The congestion issue is a statistical thing.  Just like on the freeway, you may drive to work most of the time with no problems, but every now and then there will be a traffic jam.  In the worst case situations there is a daily "rush hour" or "prime time" on the Internet.  When you say your "service goes off" do you mean the lights go out on your modem and/or your modem status at http://192.168.100.1/?page=modemStatus shows you as being disconnected?  If that is the case then I suspect you have other issues beyond congestion.

Had a similar thing happen a few weeks ago.  My modem would connect and stay up for about 90 seconds and then lock up.  No surf, no connect, no nothing!

After doing some troubleshooting and digging out the 50' ethernet cable, I hooked the modem directly to the modem and it worked.

Turns out my router went stupid.  Odd thing was that I could connect to everything on the home network but for some reason it would kill off the sat modem.  New router fixed it.

I'd check the forums here for some troubleshooting steps.
When you say it "Goes off" what does that mean, exactly?
Does the modem power down?
Are the lights on the front SOLID green or flashing?
Can you ping the modem, or get to the modem status page?

First thing I'd try is to eliminate everything behind the modem except your computer.

I was in a bar with my Duck, when a voice say's "Moses, I want you to go up onto the mountain" Note: " My Ducks Christian name is Moses".

Moses goes up on the mountain and ask "Why have you called me here?" The voice say's "I want you to write something for me".

Moses respond's " But I have no tools with which to scribe the hard rock face with". The voice say's " I will email you later, Stupid Duck".
