The only reliable way to do that is to put a temporary hold on the CC you use to submit payments with. If it is a bank account, then you'd be suspending use of the entire account.

Another option (kind of involved, but would work) would be to change your payment method to a CC or debit card which you don't use often (or at all). After making that change, suspend or replace that CC or debit card (ask for a new number).

It does take ViaSat a while to update your account to reflect a zero balance, but they will eventually do that. In our case, I think it was a week or two before the balance showed as zero.

Irregardless of what Viasat would like you to believe, you have rights under the  Consumer Credit Protection Act.

You can call into Customer Care at 855-463-9333 and ask to remove your payment information.  If you do this, you'll need to make a manual payment every month on the billing date, or risk being suspended for non-payment. Of course if your account is closed that won't be necessary.

@gm92066, good point. I hadn't thought of the consumer credit protection act, I was thinking along the lines of the quickest way to CYA if you want to protect your wallet. Your suggested option is a sound one.

And it works, I am getting ready to cancel soon, so I called to have my automatic payment information removed. The C/S person thought I wanted to change/update my info, I said no just remove my CC information I will pay my bill when it is due using the one time payment option. It's been three months now, they bug me on the account login screen and with once a month email's about adding a payment method but obviously it is not "required". I'll probably do one more month before I cancel.

don't have to get drastic, we DO enroll in autopay from the start but that can be changed at account.viasat.com we have a fair number of folks that do one-time payments each month.

Brad, I believe you made that statement once before, and once again I will state that there is no way to remove a payment method on the account page. So yes we DO have to get drastic!

If you know how to change auto pay options, please let us know.
