I moved to a rural area, no landline phone, no cable, no internet. Cant even get dial up coz i cant get a phone. Limited cell service taping phone to window. I entered my zip and it says i am covered, but i live in a small dead spot, about a quarter mile of dead air, only electric lines, between the two big local providers. Where can i check my address?

If service is available in your ZIP code, you can likely get it provided you have a clear, unobstructed view to the south (no trees blocking the view to the satellite) and of course electricity - any of the few disqualifications beyond that would require a site visit and are not related to street address.

However, do your homework ahead of time before pulling out the credit card to understand the contract terms, limitations of satellite service, data usage caps, the importance of a good installer and a quality installation.

General Tips:
  1. Read and understand the contract - click here
  2. Understand what you should expect of an installer and installation - click here
  3. Locate a reputable local Exede dealer (don't simply signup online) and ask questions (use the document links above to ask some insightful, probing questions)  - click here, enter your ZIP Code and start with any Elite dealers you may find listed, or seek a referral from someone in your area having the service.
  4. Signup directly with the installer based on his/her perceived success with Exede installs (not satellite TV installs - there's a big difference), do not bundle with satellite TV unless through him/her, and finally establish a good working relationship with him/her to ensure service after the sale - stuff happens and the advantages of using a local installer are outlined in the dealer locator link above.
Do that and you may join those here who are happy with Exede (although not elated about it - but elated to be living where we are), knowing it's our only viable option.

Fail to do that and you'll likely join those here having complaints.

At the same time you may be eligible for Exede voice service at extra cost to handle your phone situation.

The installer is the trick,  You might have to try several, just don't take no for a answer. Some just don't want to mess with it.
