Can't help OP but have the same question as I have been debating service.
I am in Ohio zip 45177 I believe Beam 319 on Viasat1.  Would like to know what speeds people in south west Ohio are experiencing.  Otherwise I will keep checking and waiting for the Viasat2 plans to show up for my zip.

The southwest Ohio beam is less congested than the eastern Ohio beam. If there is a plan available to you that you like, take it. You can always upgrade to Viasat-2 later if you find a plan you like better then.

the 30mb plan is the highest one available to me now.  I thought only the 50mb and 100mb would get me on to the viasat2 satellite ?  I don't want to have to go through a dish and equipment swap shortly after if i end up on viasat1.

Yea. Right now I don't believe the V-2 beam is available to you.

RE: 30mb plan is the highest one

I suspect those on VS-1 currently, will have to purchase 50/100Mbps plans to jump onboard VS-2, unless Viasat makes a few exceptions

Perhaps. And with a lower load, I would expect closer to advertised speeds....if you want to pay for it!

Hi Shawn - I was talking to Viasat Customer Service the other day and asked the nice lady if she could tell me what beam I was on, and she did.  Before she told me that though, she volunteered that the beam I was on was congested. So there's your answer ;-).

Technically, this is an augmented beam, not VS-1.  One or both satellites are being used, Anik-F2 and/or WB-1.  Plans above 12 Mbps will be for VS-2.

Try to find someone using this service...

RE: 12mbs for me for about a month, before that it was just 5mbs

I don't have the time to sift thru information, but I think what happened is they are using WB-1 satellite.

I'm on Exede-5, and it performs similar to Exede-12 service.  If they are using WB-1 satellite, which I suspect they are, I don't think this is highly populated...according to a density map.  It could be good service, with primetime dips.

If you know someone on this plan, if they could do a tracert command, I might be able to determine which satellite they are using.  Any dealers nearby?

Do this command:  tracert 78.46.223.24

Around 7th or 8th hop, post the first line that has alphanumerical lettering
