I would not recommend it. Your DISH DVR can burn through a ton of data.

If you want to avoid burning through your data quickly, do not connect your Viasat modem to your Dish DVR,

You should be able to find the procedure on Dish's website.   You'll need the same ViaSat password you would use to connect your laptop or phone to ViaSat's wifi.  However, like others have mentioned, connecting your ViaSat internet service to your Dish receiver is not a good idea, as there is no way to control how much data the Dish receiver may use, as they can, and sometimes do, use data for things other than your On Demand program viewing.

As Gabe suggested you should be able to see on Dish's website, most likely an ethernet cable connected to the modem/router.

Yep.  I keep forgetting that you can connect them via Ethernet cable, too.
