Most users agree that the best sight for satellite internet speed test is www.testmy.net. Use the manual option and choose 12 mb for download test and 3 mb for upload test. Exede's tech support or your dealer/installer can also check your speeds remotely.

You will also want to assure you are plugging your modem directly into the device you are running the speed test on, NOT going wirelessly.  You will get a much more accurate result of your actual speeds when hardwired, not wireless.

Best benchmark testing for speed is a website called speedtest.net   it is a free service and tests both download and upload.  Check it out.

Hi Dave, Michael is correct. We recommend speedtest.net to
verify your speed. On our webpage we have a direct link to it. Please visit http://help.exede.net/articles/General/How-to-test-your-internet-speed if you would like to use it. Thanks

I have my laptop connected to my wireless router via an ethernet (cat 5) cable. Then, cable from router to modem. This way I can access the Internet with my smart phone via the wireless router and have (I think) a direct connection from my laptop.

Does this set up degrade the signal to my laptop?

mike barber, connecting your laptop via Ethernet cable via your router should not degrade your internet connection. As for the speed testing, I have always had better luck using testmy.net, my experiences with speedtest.net are sometimes unreliable.
