My I.P address was hacked into and the latest charge shows the issue. from7/02/15 to 7/06/15 my data plan was used up. I have to pay for someone using a different I.P. address piggy-backing on your so called secure I.P. address!

It's your responsibility to secure your router if you use one, and to have a good firewall to prevent hacking, nobody else's.  No ISP does that for you, nor has anyone ever claimed you'd be secure if you don't.

Now, if you drop the attitude, and speak politely to the moderators here, if you've never asked for data in the past, I'm sure because this is a unique situation, they'd be happy to spot you some extra data for the month.

If you need assistance password protecting your router, let the forum know what make and model you have, I'm sure someone will be able to assist, or, if you need suggestions for a good firewall, we can assist with that too.

Speaking of a good firewall can you recommend a good one, I have looked and looked for one, but have been unable to find one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. and is there a good wireless router that you can recommend. I have looked at a ton and can not figure out which would be best with exede. Thanks for your help in advance! :)

Corey,

There's a discussion from those of us in the ASUS router camp at:

https://community.exede.com/exede/topics/what-modem-is-the-best-with-exceed-for-a-home-network

Most of them have basic built-in firewall support sufficient for home use, and if technically inclined you can transform even a modest router into a powerhouse with DD-WRT open source firmware --- http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/index

Hi Howard, Send us your account and contact information to exedelistens@viasat.com and we will review your data usage.

I’m sorry to hear you were hacked. We offer F-securewith our service to protect our customers. After your service is activated youare entitled to 12 months of the program to help protect your computer from viruses, software, and other malware.

At this time we do not support third partyequipment. If you are using a router, it should be secured with a strong password as Starring Matter mentioned. This is your first line of defense against hackers.

Try Black Ice.  It includes "application Protection" so only those programs you approve can access the Internet.  This will come in handy if your computer ever gets hit with a email spam-bot Trojan.
