Is Exede still doing the Great Gigbyte Give away? Where you could get 5 gigs free. Haven't heard anything about it lately.

Helen, well that was unfortunate timing. As has been discussed below, the Great Gig Giveaway has now ended. It was a long running promotion, it's been in place since November and many tens of thousands of gigs were given away.

As for everyone who feels they were misled about the gigs expiring, they didn't as long as the promotion was running. You did of course have to use them while the promotion was running, though. Sorry for any confusion.

I got the great gig giveaway in February 2015 from Nickole.  She told told me that I had 30 gigs in "the bank" and that I could use them in 6 separate 5 gig increments anytime I wanted to.  " as good as in the bank"

Well, now I did need 5 gigs more (1 increment)  this month (May 2015).  So I called customer support and was told that the promotion was cancelled and that even though I had 30 GB in the "bank", they were no longer good.  

Customer service girl was nice enough to give me 5 more gigs for May - and I thank her for that.
BUT - how did my "bank" of gigs get stolen?
Will Exede put my "bank" back??

Pinearbor, the Great Gig Giveaway was a promotion introduced last August, and was touted as giving you "up to 30 GBs in 5 GB increments". Originally it was to last only six months, but actually went on for a few months more before it was ended. It was never stated that the 30 gigs were put in your bank for use anytime in the future.

Helen, Old Labs has his internet through NRTC, who then subcontracts with ViaSat for the service.

Wanted to mention for people complaining about Exede Internet. They put up a tower just down the road from us. Thought it was a cell phone tower. It WASN'T it was Casair  broadband. So went online just to check it out.  I was NOT impressed. I think Exede is better. Just my opinion before anyone starts yelling at me.

Like Steve said - NRTC has a wholesaler type of relationship with ViaSat - they were the only ones offering Wildblue back when I signed up for that in 2005 - they were the only ones offering it in this area at that time. I stuck with them on upgrading to Exede. Despite being on the same infrastructure, all options aren't available to us but it does have some advantages.

Hello Guys, I sent in a request to use some of my free time. I am having a service person connect to my computer tomorrow and hopefully repair it. They are really going to need the speed. I hope it wasnt given to me yet because my speed is awful.
I am only getting .51 mps on download and .51 mps on up. Yes you are reading that right, it is point five one. That is really sad. The person that emailed me suggested I upgrade my plan. I explained I do not see any reason to upgrade when my speed is so bad. Its ok for me normally what ever it is because I do not down load much, or upload. But this month with the computer problems and doing some business I have had to download and upload a lot. But I dont normally go over. If I was getting super speeds I wouldnt mind to pay a little extra, but my speeds do not ever go over 3 mps. So when they cut my speed, doesnt make a big deal to me. But right now i am needing it. I hope someone can check and see, if they have given me the giveaway time, and my speed is still this bad then I believe I need a service man too. I contract is getting close. Its sad I dont think I am going to find anything better, I think everyone is about the same. But normally customer service is great and dont want to loose that. The program that this company had me to download, I told them is says its going to take 2 hours for it to download. They could not believe it and asked who my supplier is. They suggest to find a dial up company, that it would be faster then this. And that was during freezone time, and I even still had about 25% left. I am hoping someone can check this out for me by tomorrow when they have to connect. Thank you.

I just read that Kimberly is gone? Well that explains what happen to the good customer service. Maybe she went to Verizon were they are allowed to treat customers like customers.

Duck - Yes, I thought it very weird that they would remove the 5GB from my cap several days after giving them to me.  But, like I said, we did kind of have a changing of the guard at that time.  And then again, I was past my 30GB GGG total, so maybe they just caught up with me.   ;-)

You all certainly know how to cook up conspiracy theories. ;) Kimberly and the GGG promotion ending are not connected in any way. There are no sinister intentions; it was a promotion and it has now ended. I'm starting to think that you all think we sit around here looking like this:

Danielbo, we got in on the good price on Verizon last fall and got 30 GB extra on our phone plan, I hot spot that quite often through my phone and use it to watch some live streams (and no folks like I've said many times LNFZ is worthless to me,  I'm talking about a basketball game, they don't play those at night)  and it really works well, and we've struggled to go through even half of our 30GB most months.  A Verizon rep showed me the antenna you speak of and I would think it would work quite well.  I'm just waiting to see if Exede is actually going to come up with changes in April as they claim, if not we are going to switch to the Hughes 50GB/50GB plan (100 GB total) which is available in our area.  Can you get that?  I know its not available everywhere like the Freedom plan but 50 GB during the "normal" hours and an extra 50 GB from 2 am to 8 am is quite a lot to work with.  Good luck getting your issues resolved.
