Forum Censorship

I posted a somewhat unflattering comment about Viasat yesterday under the title "Comments of a Long Time User". It was mild compared to many others that I have read.

I now see that this thread has been blocked from future comments.

What gives? I assume that a post can be blocked only by a moderator. I also assume that this forum is for the benefit of Viasat customers and not for the benefit of Viasat.

So, Moderator, please tell me why no one can comment on my post after only one day.

This thread isn't blocked.  I am posting on it right now.

The management at Viasat does their best to run a clean forum.  They let us have fun, but things like foul language aren't allowed here.

I've even posted a few controversial things myself that have been removed.  When I made those posts, I expected them to be removed and they were.  No disagreements from me.  I think the moderators do a fine job of managing this forum.

Coming here and saying "Viasat sucks" is one thing.  Coming here and saying "Viasat sucks the ((*#$J#$Y #$KJKNNER KKJ#$$I&N #$IU#$N twice every morning, and three times on Sunday," is a completely different matter.

Yes Stephen, I did think some of your responses yesterday were inappropriate. Particularly the ones about certain illegal drugs and about Cheese Wiz. Call me ultra conservative, but I did not get them either.

Regarding this current post by me about censorship, here is a screen shot of the bottom of my post yesterday entitled "Comments from a Long Time User".

So, who is correct?

I didn't know I was encouraging drug use but I do thank you for giving me credit for such a thing.  It truly is a compliment.

Cheese Wiz is good on Ritz crackers.  I've never understood people who eat that stuff straight from the can.

Back on topic, Viasat does shut down threads from time to time.  They pretty much do it when there is nothing else left to be said.  They haven't blocked you though.  This thread is pretty good evidence of how tolerant the moderators are.

Ah yes, now I remember.  This forum truly is like bad crack.  I know this forum isn't good for me, but I just can't stop coming back.

I have a feeling it would be healthier to own a crack pipe rather than come to this forum every day.

Sorry that was by me and it was purely incidental (multitasking yesterday and hit the wrong thing, started answering an email and didn't realize).

With that said we do close threads if they go off topic, are old topics that are no longer relevant, duplicate topics, spam (also includes multiple posts that could be merged in one post).

We also remove content if it violates our forum rules found here: https://community.viasat.com/viasat/topics/forum-decorum-guidelines-for-the-viasat-internet-communit...
so if something is deemed inappropriate, combative, ect we may remove it.
