Does anyone know about the voicemail with the phone service? Is it processed at the central site, or in the phone modem at my location? The question is, if I have phone service and get a phone call while the satellite service is down (storm, etc.) can caller still leave a message that I can retrieve later?

I have heard of customers still receiving voicemails when their service is down. I will check with our Voice Tech team on this issue.

Sincerely, ExedeCrystal

I have had Exede Voice for almost a year now.  The voice mail is processed at a central location, NOT at your modem or voice adapter, so if your connection is down, or your modem is powered down, folks still are able to leave messages that you can retrieve later, or via another phone, land line or wireless.  In addition, call forwarding can be implemented during those times you have  no satellite service.

That's good since I just ordered Excede Voice. Beats the 85.00 a month phone bill I have now and, even if it is down for weather or maint. I will get my voice mail later. As it is now the phone lines here do not support voicemail (they are aluminum so, had to have an old tape using answering machine and, still if the phone was down, no one could leave a message. (That happens every time the power goes out but, my inverter powers my modem and computer so, it can power my voice adapter as well. I'll have phone when the power is out - except in storms bad enough to knock my internet out too.)
