We have not tried it with the Xbox one, however with the Xbox 360 it kind of did.  Many times you are very limited into which games can be joined.  I do recall my son got kicked from a game because the 700 ms lag was causing issues and he was ending up owning everyone.

Bottom line is most online gaming work well in the 100 ms or lower speeds - usually much lower.  Exede will work, but the built in lag may limit what you can do and may also keep your experience from being what you think it should be.

As for synching account information and doing updates it works fine, other than eating through your data if there are big updates.

I appreciate. we would be using it for the updates, initial logins etc. needed to use the Xbox One only. we live in a rural area and got our kids a One for Christmas and didnt realize the need for the internet so much. no multiplayer planned as of now.

Just don't plan on doing the Halo 5 unless you are on the freedom plan.  18 GB update.  Xbox system update was about 1.2 GB.  Several other games were 300 MB to 7 GB depending on the game.  I finally gave in and took the Xbox to my office and we ended up downloading nearly 70 GB of updates overall and still don't have all the games installed.  You can do a google search and see the size of required updates for most of them.

Have fun - don't let the kids monopolize it.  Xbox one is for the parents too!  Additionally Microsoft has / or at least had a Work and Play Bundle which included a Gold Live Pass, Office 365 for 5 PC/MAC and 5 Mobile/Tablet devices, a $60.00 Microsoft Store Credit (cannot be used on the online store, but can be used with Xbox live or the Windows App Store), and 1 year of tech support from Microsoft Asure regarding Windows 10 problems.

Cost: $149.00 which is really worth if it you need Office 365 and want the Xbox One Live.  One Gold pass enables anyone in your family (have to set it up) to use the Live features.

Not a bad deal overall.

Again Good Luck and Have Fun!
