Honey drives truck coast to coast & I ride with him, this dishonest company tells me the 22nd of every month that I have used the max of my DATA...EVEN when I'm not at home and Laptop unplugged. Thieves trying to force you into purchasing more DATA.

That's unfortunate... I have you tired contacting ViaSat about your issues, something might need to be looked into.

They are not thieves. SOMETHING or SOMEONE is using up that data. Possibilities could be neighbor is accessing your network. Or you have satellite tv and your receiver is downloading. Or you have a security system or camera that is constantly uploading to the cloud.

Someone would have to drive 10 miles to get close to this cow pasture undetected several days in a row to use my monthly DATA while i was away....maybe you folk in a city are unaware people on farms know when there is someone lurking, as distant neighbors and mailman watch out for us all. NO ONE is using wifi from my satellite dish or the 5 years I have had same problem.

Also, I unplug the modem and computer everytime when not in use, so that isn't the problem.

Something is being omitted or overlooked here.

Agreed.  And I'm not sure if ViaSat is the same way, but with my ISP (ViaSat's direct competition), when the modem is unplugged it's a factual impossibility for any data to be used.  The only thing that can happen is that, due to a small delay between the modem's tally and the servers, data that was used just prior to the modem being unplugged may not show as deducted until the modem is plugged back in.  Because of this, it can look like some data was used while the modem was unplugged, while in reality it was used before it was ever unplugged, but didn't update until it was plugged back in.

Granted, this doesn't explain data always running out on the 22nd.  Something like this suggests to me that a device is scheduled to download updates, or even connect to the cloud and transfer data, on this date.

Nathan is correct. A lot of things can be happening (updates, malware, etc) A lot of those "always on devices" periodically update and some are quite large.

You can unplug the modem while gone and that would make no usage. It doesn't measure in real time so it "catches up" once on to report what it was prior to the disconnection of the modem.

If you read my comments you would see, I always unplug, every night. EVERYTHING. Not just when I'm not at home, but when I go to bed or dont use.. And my usage gets turned down and I start receiving annoying notices that it is, the 22ND of EVERY MONTH! How can updates use your entire month's worth of Data every month? I check and the only updates i get are a few microsoft updates once in awhile. I clear my cache, files nd email and my maintenance is scheduled. I dont run malware. Nor any other product. I read, post a few comments, comment, and once in a while poker or watch Utube. I maybe save or download 3 pics a month. I clean out my files regularly. My data is reinstalled on automatic paymnt date 9th, but always turned down on 22nd. So I virtually am only getting two weeks of Data for one month of paymnt. before i shut my laptop off, i always restart, it tells me if anything is running in background-as per your "always on" there isn't. I dont shop on line, I dont use apps in store. No printer hooked up either. And miraculously I use all my data by the 22nd, even when I have been gone for 3 weeks and laptop off.

Perhaps it would be best to note your data level on the 21st, then check it a few times before the 22nd hits.  Then continue doing so as the day of the 22nd progresses.

It still sounds to me like something is using the data due to a schedule.  I can't imagine ViaSat taking all of your remaining data each month and dumping it on the 22nd.  Not only would there be no point to them doing so, it would be fairly easy to prove, especially with there only being a single device (the laptop) connected to the ViaSat modem.

Take a look at Glasswire for monitoring your laptop's data usage.  The free version is fine...
