I'm not connected to my directv and my 10GB plan is almost used. Even if I was connected to my directv I would not want the service predicting what shows I'm watching. I haven't even been around to use it so how is this possible?

Note: This conversation was created from a reply on: Why does my 10 GB plan run out so fast?.

I only got my service last Tuesday and didn't use it till Wed. the next day and have barely used it since then! Its now Monday, so it hasn't even been a week and it says I've used 8.9 out of 10! I also DO NOT have direct tv hooked up to mine, so how is this possible?

As noted above, try the new data usage tool detailed in Alex's post at:

This will provide a categorized breakdown of where your data is going. Between ads, automatic updates, auto-playing or pre-loading videos and DirecTV/Dish (where applicable) there are any number of ways to consume data in the background without your knowledge so that it's entirely possible.

The typical remedies involve installing an ad blocker, disabling auto-play on videos/audio and ensuring that automatic updates for both your operating system and applications are disabled. Specific recommendations require knowing your operating(s), device(s), browser(s) and sometimes even what router brand and model use.

I had my install on Monday, finished up around 7pm. When I got up on Tuesday I had used up  more than half of my 10GB. I am so NOT HAPPY. I feel like I'm being ripped off.

Hello Sonya, sorry for the trouble you've had with your data usage, I certainly understand your concerns. This is definitely not the impression we like our customers to have. Some data consumption's that people are typically unaware of are: storage, media, updates, apps, or communications. The number of wireless devices on your home network can also be a major key with data usage.
