Data being used for no reason

When I shut down the computer last night I noticed the send/receive lights on the MODEM were still flashing like crazy. I had used 9% of my 20GB allowance (I used last then half last billing cycle). Got up today to the lights still flashing, and my usage was now 28%.  Checked my network for unknowns. There were none.

Help. I'm on my way to using my allowance early in the billing cycle!

Okay, I unplugged the MODEM and as far as I can tell on the reboot that mad data exchange has stopped. A mad data exchange is not what I expected with a MODEM disorder, or I would have tried that last night before going to bed. So the only question that remains is how do I get my 15-20 percent lost data back?

Also, if this happens to many people, the strain on the resources for EXEDE must be very high. I don't want to think EXEDE has things wired to sell extra GBs, so this is a problem that really needs correcting. I'll correct it on my end by unplugging my MODEM when I have no need for it, but that sure is a crappy way.

I am now in the after 6 months phase of service. I keep being notified that I am exceeding my data. Is this going to happen every month now? I never had Sat internet, I was used to TWC unlimited. I feel that I am being overcharged. I have two cell phones and probably shouldn't have them on the wi fi. we have two IPADS which have to be shut off before bed and when not in use because I believe that data is being used when the devices are sleeping. Thoughts, comments? I am going to try the Netbalancer software and monitor the usage here . TY

Hello Sandy, there could be a multitude of reasons why your data is being consumed before the end of your billing cycle. A few data consumptions that people are typically unaware of are: storage, updates, apps, or communications. The number of devices on your home network also plays a major role with usage.
