Hello!

My Exede internet was connected today. I am using a LinkSYS router to spread the connection throughout the house.

When I try to connect my son to Xbox Live, it forces me to enter my email and password that was used to create the Xbox live name/account. I enter the proper information, then it shows how many friends he has online. A few sections later it says that he is disconnected from Xbox Live, and he gets the following error:

"Sorry, something's wrong with your Microsoft account. Go to HTTPS://account.live.com for help. Code: 831188fe"

Prior to this he was connected to Xbox live using our very slow DSL with no issues.

I understand there may be something I may do to the settings....maybe to the proxys. Anyhelp would be much appreciated.

Regards,

James Lovell

Hello Jim,

Thanks for the response.

I followed every step on there and it didn't work. When I tried to re-download the profile, it gave the same error. So, I signed out of Exede internet and signed in with my DSL; it worked with no issues. SO, I have no idea why I am having an issue connecting to Xbox Live while connected to Exede. As previously stated, Exede makes me enter my email address and password associated with the profile name when I try to log in. It accepts it, and it takes me to the final screen which basically asks if I would like for it to ask for my password every time or save it. Either choice I make, it still pops up with the error code and disconnects me from live. I just don't get it.

Get rid of the Cisco Linksys router. They drop connection with the Exede service. I have installed over 800 happy customers. Never with Linksys or Cisco. Dlink routers work flawlessly with Exede.

That may be the case that you have seen with Linksys/ Cisco but I have had the same Linksys/ Cisco router for years and has worked better then the old netgear I used to have. After of fact the router is sitting in my basement next to the modem and I am on the second floor and have not a single issue with the router

James, it's been mentioned by a couple people, but I'd first like to rule out the router having issues with Exede. Please try hooking up your Xbox with a wired connection and see if the issue continues. If you continue to have problems please send me an email at exedelistens@viasat.com with your account and contact information. Just reference your post in the email and I'd love to troubleshoot this with you.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I was able to connect to Xbox live on the Xbox One using both Exede internet and the Linksys router. This said, I don't understand why the Xbox 360 would cause issues with Xbox live yet the Xbox One has no issues.

That is very strange. I would contact Xbox support and let them know about the issue, since you've confirmed your connectivity to Exede is not the problem.

My linksys router has special menus/settings to allow gaming use.  I don't do the games so am not familiar with this aspect. Like Kaotic suggested, have you tried connecting your Xbox 360 directly to the modem?  This would answer the question as to whether you need to configure your router.

I have a Xbox360, now granted I don't use Xbox Live, but I do have it connected to my network to stream recorded TV from my desktop computer to the TV.  I do have internet though because I have watched a few movies though the amazon prime app.  I also have a Lynksys WRT160N router and have had no issues with it when i was with HughesNet the last 9 years nor now on Exede.

Did you bypass the router and connect your 360 directly? Did it work?
