Any kind of wireless router (that you own) will work because its simply plugged into Exede's modem. Also a tri-band router just offers two 5 GHz channels for more bandwidth plus one channel for old 2.4 GHz legacy devices.

How would one of those super routers like Netgear's Orbi work with our satellite system?

Sure you can!

There's no issue with connecting a third-party router to our modem.  You may want to disable the wifi on our modem to prevent interference though.
