Blocked websites during Free Zone hours between midnight and 5AM

Is the blocking of websites during Free Zone time now going to be the norm?  If so, then tell me now so that I can drop this company and go to Dish or Hughes or even Wi-Fi.  I had internet service before I signed up with you over 2 years ago, I can have it again.  Your company is NOT the only choice available. up until the end of Januaray I was very pleased with oyur service, but since then the service, the response to questions andcomplaints, has been frustrating and uninformative.  If you do not want me as a customer, then come right out and say so, don't just keep me dangling.

I congratulate you on getting any freezone whatsoever. I'm 40 minutes away from the end of my "Free Zone" and it still hasn't kicked in. Apparently, regardless of the service I pay for, this is the service I'm getting.

I used my freezone last night and it was working fine. What sites are you talking about Angela?

Hello Angela,

Are you by chance on an Evolution Plan? If so, we recently had a update to our system that affected Evolution plans. Over the years, content providers changed their delivery methods which made it difficult to to distinguish streaming when reporting usage.  For some customers prior to this upgrade our software incorrectly distinguished streaming media as web browsing. This update now better distinguishes it and if you've gone over your data you may have trouble visiting such sites as youtube, Facebook video and so on.

No, my plan is Exede12-10.  And what does any of what you said have to do with the sites that have (since Jan 30th) been blocked during data restriction now being blocked also during FREE ZONE hours?  It is plain enough to see that this blocking of certain sites during Free Zone hours is a deliberate act. What I want to know is WHY?

Dude, she said "FREE ZONE". Why did you not address that?

Even during the 'free - unmetered' time span?
Happens to me too - on the Evolution plan.
For me it is supposed to be 3-8am but in timing it, it seems it doesn't really start until about 3:30 and shuts off around 7:30. And even within that I see a lot of blocks.
Unfortunately, I have no other good choice (just other satellite providers and hi-cost cellular)

Few times I just had to unplug the modem and plug it back in to get free zone to kick in.

That has never actually worked in my experience. It always just kicks in whenever it feels like it. I have a LOT of time on my hands and would normally kick up a big fuss over their chronic failure to provide the service their customers are paying for. Happily in a few short months I'm going to be moving away from this otherwise idyllic place. This new place has cable internet. You know that service that most people take for granted? A place where you can pay about 80% of what Exede charges and get 10x the speed and ∞x the data cap?

You have no idea the unbridled joy I feel with the thought of paying that early cancellation fee. I'm sure it could be considered masochistic how much I am looking forward to paying a penalty to cancel the service that they are failing to provide.

I  didn't say I had trouble being allowed usage during Free Zone hours, what I said was that certain websites are now also being blocked.

I know. I was hijacking your thread for a bit of a rant.

Carry on.

It is happening to myself and others too (search https in forums) It isn't a timeout or a throttling, Exede is corrupting the 'handshake' to establish a secure session with the servers at the sites mentioned that don't work. When your browser tries to connect to the server (e.g. TLS 1.2), something goes wrong (Exede) and the server sends a RESET flag, then your browser tries TLS 1.x, all the way down to SSL which all get rejected by the server with a

I've had connection issues before using Internet Explore when FireFox would not.

Maybe try a different browser?
