I  got my new bill notice today with the first lease fee on it and I just looked at it.

How did I get charged a city sales tax when the nearest town (and city limits) is 10 miles away???? I'll go with the state and county sales tax, but not city. If I lived near a town I wouldn't need Exede. Check your bills people. I wonder how many other people are getting erroneously charged this as I would imagine the vast majority of Exede customers are not in a city limits.

For that matter, I'm curious which city it was paid to as I live about equal distance from three little towns.

Edit - Evidently, I haven't been scrolling far enough down the bill, because I have been charged this for a while, but the web site is so slow I didn't go back through too many bills.

Edit Edit - I found the place of the Texas state web site where you look this up by address and it's like I thought. I'm not supposed to be paying any city sales tax.

After reading your post, I checked my account. No city tax just State $0.30. I agree, if your not within the city/ town , city limits, No Tax.

Maybe it's a bad reference related to your zip code, or something???

David, please send me an email at with your account and contact information and reference this post. When adding an account it does require us to select a tax jurisdiction and it sounds like the incorrect one was selected. We'll get it fixed for you.

It sounded so simple until someone from Exede just called me. They refused to consider the thought that it could have been set up wrong. Since I'm being charged city sales tax, I must owe the city sales tax and refused to check into it any further. Instead of checking to see if Exede might have made an error to start with, their solution was for me to try to find someone in the State of Texas government or in the city I don't live in that will give me papers saying that I don't owe city taxes. That would keep me busy for a while.

Amazon and every other online retailer that charges Texas sales taxes manage to get this right.

Exede Alex or Beau, is there anyone I can talk to that would actually check this and not just assume it was correct from the start and tell me to fix it myself? I've had great customer service from Exede up until now.

It's not that hard, Texas makes it easy. They have this site to look it up -

Hi David, I apologize for the misunderstanding; I did not realize the city tax was the issue at hand in regards to the tax jurisdiction within your area. What I will do is get this city tax reviewed by my finance team to get approved and resolved. I will call you more information into the tax jurisdiction. Thank you -Exede Lindsey
