Yahoo Email Issue Being Investigated

Howdy Folks,

Just wanted to sort of do a blanket addressing of our current issue with Yahoo emails bouncing as undeliverable. We hear you guys loud and clear. We have escalated this to the company that serves as our email host and they found an issue that is being fixed. Unfortunately, it's been an ongoing process for the better part of the last week but it is being worked on to be resolved ASAP.  We're very sorry for the inconvenience that this may be causing with sending out emails. From what we know emails are coming TO our customers but not FROM. So that is being sorted and we hope to have things up and running as soon as possible.

Please let us know on this topic what issues may be showing. Some are forwarding to our exedelistens@viasat.com address but let's try not to clog that inbox with all the forwarded emails unless requested, instead you can send us an email if you want a personal correspondence but please refrain from forwarding all of the bounced emails. My team and I will try to post updated information as it comes in.

Thanks

If you have the same issues with Gmail, then the problem is on your end.  Gmail works great for many here on Viasat.

I have been using another email system to get emails to the servers rejecting my WB emails. The ol, "It's your computer, not us" ain't going to cut it here. I never had issues with the original email server offered when I signed up in 2006, never had issues when they switched to gmail. It is only after switching to the current server, whom is know to have shit for a reputation, and many issues with being blacklisted, that all this started.

The gmail issue is due to group or bulk emails, which I use for getting salvage bids out to many bidders for my work. So I have gone yet another route to get my salvage out for bids. I only keep the WB accounts because I have a few for separate reasons, none work etc., and have not had the time to go to all the websites, groups etc to change everything.

Does WB/Exede/Viasat use the same email server?

Here is a copy of a rejection I get every time I email my mother & father. Before you blame it on Epix, which is Frontier's DSL, their email server is guess hosted by Yahoo

Hog,
Yep, that's the same "rejected" message (Diagnostic-Code) that I always get back too.

Yet it is on my end? Uhuh, ok.
I'm still wanting to know if WB/Exede and Viasat all use the same email host? I am on the original sat, and wonder if I switch to newer, if the email host is the same or not?

ViaSat uses the same email host for both Wildblue.net and Exede.net email accounts. Changing your service will not move your email account to another host.

Ok, I did send my yahoo account an email from my WB account, with an attacdment, and it went through. So that did work.
I don't understand why the yahoo host on my parent's accounts is rejecting the emails from my WB account? Never had an issue before? I don't know.
Seems more & more hosts are setting up more & more filters, just fubaring everything. I can see this continuing to get worse everywhere with all hosts. They need to centralize their systems to be more compatible.

By now it is clear that the issue can not (will never be) resolved.  You will need to use one of any number of work arounds.  That's just life.

Same here, sent 4 emails to same yahoo recipient, some made it, some got rejected. Since they feel that some get through, I guess that constitutes fixed. Guess that is good enough for them. The day I can get something other than dialup or satellite back here, poof, gone. Price to product/service comparison is not good at all.

As was recommended by several of you, I have ditched the wildblue email program and have gone to gmail.  I agree with others that if I could get something else around here I would do it in a flash!

Gmail is a much, much better option and more reliable. Not to mention it is a lot easier to give your email address to somebody versus spelling every letter out :)

I forgot and sent out a work email to multiple recipients through my wildblue email account, and I can tell you, the problem is nowhere near fixed.

FYI Frontier/Epix use Yahoo as their email provider...
9 rejected emails all yahoo based receipients, sorry Exede, not fixed.

Hogwildz,

Thanks for letting us know you're still seeing the issue.  However, we can't do anything with this without your account information to start with.  Please email us at ViasatListens@viasat.com with the information you posted, and your account number, or the phone number attached to the account.

Please do not post this information to the forum, as it's a public site.  We don't want any personal information here, to protect your privacy.

I have been having this problem with Yahoo emails for months. The same thing is happening with AOL emails now. All of my emails have bounced for the last 2 days that went to AOL accounts (and of course with all the Yahoo accounts as well.) The issue goes beyond just the return of emails. I get notified of delivery failure on some Yahoo accounts where the email was actually delivered! So that compounds the problem.

Let me guess. You are using the Viasat provided email address? Switch to gmail or Yahoo mail account and your problem will be solved permanently.

I'm really new and pretty clueless about this "tech stuff.". I have a gmail account already but haven't used it since all our business and personal contacts have used our Viasat provided wildblue address for years.  Does the gmail go through exede/viasat/wildblue satellite? Is not the satellite the problem? or is there a separate server once the email gets to viasat or exede or whoever the satellite provider is? Do you know this stuff?

Gmail works independent of whatever internet provider you use. When you signed up with Viasat they gave you an email address as a courtesy, but you are under no obligation to use it.

The problem is the email Viasat provides is through a third party. So all support, problems, issues, etc. Viasat has to provide to that other company. In addition, that company's product is not near as robust or powerful as gmail or Yahoo. So, you then can have a lot of issues with it.

I hope all this makes sense.
