Wildblue Connection Problem

Friday 8-28-15 the modem started dropping the connection to the satellite. This is a Wildblue connection in West Central Idaho. It became progressively worse and now the connection only last a short time. This connection has been great ( 11 years) and rarely drops but this last week it hardly connects. I have done all the normal things by-passing the router re-booting etc. Even took the modem and blew all the dust out and there is no change. Been having some weather but in times past this thing just kept running even in heavy snow storms rarely disconnecting. It's like the satellite is not shoving the stuff down like before. Thinking about switching to Dishnet as no one around here deals with Wildblue any more but would like to keep this connection if it would clear up.

Hello Jim, this definitely sounds like your modem may need to be replaced. We certainly don't want you to leave and do business elsewhere. Please allow us the chance to look into this for you to see if we can get your modem replaced if necessary. Please give our Customer Care Line a call at 866.945.3258 and they should be able to see if there any techs within your area that can service your WildBlue equipment.  Thank you

Called customer service and explained that the connection was in a remote area with no phone service what so ever. Asked if they would just send me a new modem as they said there were no satellite outages in the area and I was refused. Said they had to run a diagnostic on the modem and I had to be in front of the computer and on the phone. I told her like three times and she did not seem to get it that there was no phone service. Asked for the phone number of a service person in the area and got nothing. So I told her if she could not just send another modem I was going to switch to Dishnet. She again refused. So today I ordered Dishnet and will cancel Wildblue in a couple weeks.

While talking with the Dishnet sales guy he informed me that he has had numerous calls this last week complaining about the same thing as I did. So it has to be a satellite problem not just a modem problem.
