wifi often in and out/on and off

We often experience the WiFi connection going on and off sporadically, even during clear weather, at times. Sometimes tells me I "can't connect to this network". Also very much buffering almost anytime. Upgraded to gold 50 unlimited plan, but made little difference. I wish we could get Sudden link here; had it before this move and never these problems.

A ground based cable system is always going to outperform satellite, unless it is a really crappy and poorly mainstained system.

First, make sure the devices having problems connecting are in fact using the correct password and, are trying to connect to the correct network. You may have Guest enabled, this giving you two networks working off the same modem. Make sure the devices are connecting to the network you think they are trying to connect to.

Even a Gold plan does not allow 1080 video, 720 MAXIMUM resolution. You need to adjust settings on apps and websites to insure the app or site does not attempt to steam in a higher resolution than your plan permits.

If you are trying to to On Demand via a Dish or DTV receiver, then no, that won't work at all. You will need to download the On Demand programs to view later via your Hopper or DVR.

Does the modem lose connectivity with the internet or only the wireless clients?

Can you connect a computer with a cable and plug into the modem/router - test getting to internet via cable when wifi isn't working?
