I must have one of the older router/modems. It doesn't have a lighted circle on the side, but it does have blues lights on one end. Does this unit also have Wi-Fi capability or do I need the later device version to have wi-fi?

You likely have the Surfbeam modem - modem only functionality with no router capability built-in.

While the new Exede WIFI modem includes built-in router capabilities (as well as support for the Exede voice service), it is not required to establish your own WIFI capabilities. You can simply buy your own WIFI router. There are a wide variety of choices dependent upon your needs. I personally prefer the ASUS series of routers that have several different price points depending on features, But ask 10 people and you'll likely get 10 different answers on router preferences.
