I just noticed that my thread was deleted. Was it because I've been telling the truth about how crappy my service is and how it has made running my business impossible?

No worries Mitch. Your conversation has not been deleted, just archived. You and others can still access it like normal and post to it through the search bar.

My business has almost tanked the last few months thanks to exede's slow down in the evenings. I can't supply my customers with the customer service they need to get new orders. Evening is when we have the most contact from them, with .1mbps speed all evening we are screwed. I guess no money from my customers mean no more money for exede. Oh well screw exede I'll do with out if I can't get more reliable service.

Steve I'm glad you enjoy your service so much that you have to invade every complaint thread with how much you love exede. I guess my area has the bandwidth over sold which is great for exede but the customers suffer from unusable internet. I'm in the process of finding a more reliable service so I can build my business back up to where it was before I got this crap service.

Did you ever get Exede to check your system out to find out what is wrong? Exede is not that oversold, you have other problems.

I'm not paying $95 for a tech to check their equipment and calling their tech support is a joke.

David - Actually, some beams are suffering congestion effects.  Here in Virginia we do suffer speed reduction due to congestion.  This is verifiable through Tech Support.  Most of the evening hours I run at ~5 Mbps, but early in the morning I can push 18-20 Mbps.  Evidently this isn't classified as "oversold" because Exede is still being advertised and installed in my area.

I too have a congestion problem...think JEP and I are in the same VA beam...in the early am. I get VERY high speeds --up to 21 down but just a little while ago I was only getting download 2mbs and up less than 1 mbs (lnfz congestion)...and often I am getting like 5 mbs download at various other times..But I  don't have the same problem you do Mitch since I am not using this for business purposes.  But I don't call it "crap service" because this is the best available to me...5mbs download is still way better than what i got with HUGHES (max was 1 mbs)...I would have had to pay hughes more money per month to upgrade to gen 4 speeds which in that plan are less than exede.  but a service not being everything I want doesn't make it inferior service to me.(i think inferior is a better word than crap but that is just my opinion)..this is what satellite internet is like because of where the technology is, as far as I am concerned.
so mitch, hopefully you will find a service that is a landbased broadband that will meet your business needs.

What a shock, another night that the free zone speed didn't kick in and I'm getting a whopping .3mbps. Good job once again exede.

what is "free zone speed"?....granted there is something terribly wrong with 0.3mbs (there is a period in front of the 3, right?)....but you do know that speeds don't go up during the LNFZ, right?  if anything they go down because of the congestion because so many people set up downloads to happen during the free zone.  Free zone means data is not metered during that time frame, not that speeds change (except to go down if there is congestion as there often is).
but again, congestion shouldn't mean the kind of seriously low speeds you are getting!  I consider something like my 2-5 mbs instead of 15 or more to be slowed speeds due to congestion.

I was just contacted and told that a service had been setup with a technician to try and solve my service problems. I'll give feedback about the experience after they come Friday. Thanks for setting this up Kim.

Mitch, what are your Speeds during the day??? If they are the same at .3Mgbs, then is sounds like your Dish is out of alignment, there is a problem with your modem, The Install wasn't done correctly, there could even be a break in the center conductor of the cable that comes from the Dish into your house....I believe, EXEDE uses RG-8 cable to do their install, and RG-8 and a few other cable types are nutorious for center conductors breaking on the spools, during installs, after a cold snap, etc. I'm a HAM Radio operator and I build my own antennas and have used RG-8 cable and know for a fact the the different cables are very "touchy" when man handled or left out in the cold weather....some installers leave their cable spools in there truck ALL the time some have spools that are years old too, So I'd let a tech come out and see what the problem is if tech Support can't see why your speeds are so slow.....

A proper Exede install would use an RG-6 coax selected from a ViaSat approved cable list.  In some cases the list specifies the spool diameter to avoid bend radius problems and/or cold flow issues.
