Why is there a difference in plans between account.viasat.com and exede.com sites? - with pictures.

Hey all,

I've been an Exede customer for about 4 years now.  Started on the Liberty plan and now on the Freedom plan capped at 12Mbps & 150gb.  I'd been keeping an eye on the Viasat-2 news in hopes of a new plan.  Today I went out to check and see if anything was available and I'm a tad confused by the options.  I asked this question to phone support and didn't get much of an answer, so here goes...

On the acount.viasat.com site, my upgrade options are as shown in image 1.  Nothing beyond the 12Mbps Unlimited plans.  However when I got to Exede.com and put in my Zip code, I get the 25Mbps or 30Mbps plan options as a 'new customer'.

So I guess I have a few questions.
1. Why the difference in plan options?
2. Are any of these part of Viasat-2?
3. If not... and I upgrade to say the 25Mbps Silver plan, can I then upgrade to a Viasat-2 plan a month down the road without penalty?

Thanks! in advance for any info!

I'm going to guess that the options you see for your account upgrades are because you have the old modem (12Mbps max) and the newer options from exede.com show plans using the new modem.  All from Viasat-1 it looks like.

And for question 3, if you are going from old modem to wifi modem on VS1, I don't know if you have to sign a new contract, but you presumably will when you get a VS2 plan.

I wouldn't want to switch to any plan that uses the wifi modem on Viasat 1.

Plans for NEW customers vs plans available to YOUR ACCOUNT, they are often different. Looks like VS2 hasn't rolled out in your area yet, same as mine, so you'r seeing what you can switch to with your current modem, the faster plans are for new customers that would get a new modem.

I suspect that the VS1 modems are in a bit of a short supply right now, with getting VS2 to all areas so, give it until the end of the month and see what new plans come up for you.
