Because excede hasn't sold you a plan for 25 mbps. They have sold you a plan for "up to" 25 mbps. The fine print.

This is the explanation exede gave me after calling them about my slow data speeds.

Kevin there are many reasons for slow speeds ranging from what each connected device is doing at the time to congestion, equipment issues, out of priority data for the month.

Off peak hours with one device connected via an Ethernet cable, with priority data remaining for the month you should see speeds close to 25Mbps. (5 am - 2 PM on average in most areas.)

Remember that that 25 Mbps is shared by all connected devices so, even at max speed, if you had 5 devices all using the internet at the same time, you'd get a maximum of 5 Mbps per device.

If you are seeing slow speeds other than peak hours (2 PM to 5 AM on average) and, with data remaining for the month, email your account and contact information to exedelistens@viasat.com and, ask them to investigate your slow speeds. I'm sure they can help you.

HI Kevin., Yes please send us an email as Bev suggested. We'd love to figure out what is causing your slow speeds.  We look forward to hearing from you.

After years with dial up I like exede. Most complaints in this forum is slow speed. Your clincher being (up to 25Mbps). Please rectify the problem. I get the picture a number of subscribers feel this is not a fair reply. The implication, exede can do anything and not violate your contract agreement. I'm not complaining just pointing out a problem. Thank You

Exede oversold their service, plain and simple. They are bringing a new satellite on line that will help with congestion, but its going to take time.

Its like if everyone who pays for a gym membership actually went.
