This and last month, my data allowance has dissapeared quickly before the end of month is reached. What is exede doing that is causing this??? My Internet use as far as downloads or video streaming has decreased dramatically, why is my data then being exhausted so quickly.

Nef, you are not being overcharged by Exede. You are paying the rate you agreed to. What is probably happening to your data over the past few months are those windows 10 updates that Microsoft has been pushing though in the background. Just two days ago they had an update that was 1.7 GB, a few weeks ago the update  was 2.4 GB.

If you send an email to exedelistens@viasat.com, they will give you a breakdown of where your data is being used. Be sure to include your phone number and your account number in the email.

when it happens over and over constantly, updates can't be blamed, some people only turn it on duering the free zones and it still happens. some people do not even use windows 10 and it still happens..

I Agree, I go on during free zone and force the updates and we do that with the other 2 computers.  Peak hours are only use for checking email and light browsing. But today my VPN data counter stated that I used 1.9 GB but exede states I use 5GB. I feel like i am being screwed.

Hi, Nef. I can certainly understand your concerns about data usage. Please review this information at your convenience. It may answer your questions. If you still need assistance, please send your account information to exedelistens@viasat.com as Christine mentioned.

Happening to me too! I'm not even home hardly at all and my data is gone in a matter of days. On top of it, I have never seen the "$100" Visa prepaid gift card that I was promised when I signed up for this cable and internet package! So far, I must say that I am not the least bit impressed with this dish and internet service. I see why they make you sign a two year commitment, because they would go out of business if they could not lock you in or make you pay copious amounts of money to get out of this "contract". I thought I had it bad with the cable company ? ?? Jokes on me apparently.

I currently use cable internet. I listen to a lot of late night radio from midnight to 6 or 7 am and occasionally download software.

My average data usage has been around 30gig / month which is nowhere near my allotment for the month.

hotshort1, while I'm glad you are on cable, keep in mind that nearly everyone on this forum is in an area that Cable or DSL cannot or will not go to due to a low population. As a result they have satellite internet. There's a very good reason why Exede isn't offered in areas cable is offered: Cable and high speed DSL are much better options due to no data cap, faster ping, and ever increasing speeds. We actively do not offer our services there because we're a solution to those that cable companies won't go to (it costs quite a bit to run cables out to areas and if they don't see a return on the investment they'll never expand to those areas whereas we just have to put a dish to patch someone in with our satellite). So for those that can't get the benefits that you're currently enjoying, we make our service available to them. I think even our most loyal customers would LOVE to switch to cable if given a chance but keep in mind if you want to keep posting on this forum that you're praising a service that most of these users aren't able to get where they live so it's not a fair comparison.

Leonard, that promo may have been with your dealer. I know there was a thing about a year ago but I think anything like that recently is likely a dealer only promotion. You can always email us at exedelistens@viasat.com and while I may ultimately have to refer you back to your dealer for that promotion I can look into it for you. I would also like to look into your account as well as we had some "bundle" offers that may not have been offered correctly in the first place. I'll be glad to see if I can sort all this out for you.

Thank you Brad. Yes, we live in an area where cable is not an option at all, this was our only option. As of last night we called and spoke to Direct TV and they credited us $100 since they could not recall their own promotion and we cancelled our Exede internet since it disappeared at alarming rates and come to find out it wasn't even hooked up to the dish! We paid our penalty for having to cancel and last month we upped our data on our phones and just live on that. An overall poor experience with the actual product itself but from beginning to end, the customer service has been very nice!

ah ok. I'm glad DTV helped you out with the card. I'm sorry I wasn''t able to assist you with the Exede service but I'm glad the customer service was helpful.

Sounds bad to be billed for something that isn't even hooked up.

From the complaints of the billing, I won't ever waste time with Exede.

hotshot1 is just here to stir up excitement. He is on cable, and not a satellite internet user. Also, he doesn't seem to understand that Directv is owned by AT&T and Exede is owned by ViaSat. It was Directv that made a deal that they did not fulfill.

I'm not the one complaining about over billing, Buckwheat !
I might have had to get it where I was thinking about moving to.

With all the negative crap I've read about Exede, I won't be stupid enough to waste money with them.

Hotshot1, enough of your name calling. That is a violation of the conditions of use on this forum. You can still make your comments on here, but you need to be more respectful of the other forum members.
