why does the blue congestion light come on now instead of Green OK?

The very best ever...  I have been trying to get my Connection in the Green

(Has been in red since installation) and the Heavy Traffic Congestion light is always on, I’m out in the middle of the desert with my Sat. so not sure why that's on

always ??  Any Ideas??

Congestion has nothing to do with your home, it's how many subscribers are using the same beam you use. That is set up at install and, each area has a designated beam, it cannot be changed. Just means lots of people that have Exede and live within a 100 mile radius or so of you are using the internet when you see congestion in the red.

Much appreciation...  Love Learning..  Im out in a very small community next to the CO River..  Im the only one with exceed here, however the bar and café uses a different Sat. CO.  Do we share the same beam even tho different Co's ?  I really want to understand how this works...  Thank You for helping me..  My computer is the only subscriber ?

If the Cafe is using a different satellite provider, it may be HughesNet, who operate their own satellites. DishNet uses either Exede or HughesNet for their service.

I have a 2 Dishes...  1 for internet ie: Exede and One for DISH ie: T.V....   Been having some issues..  Could they be interfering with each other...??  Im constantly getting interference errors on TV?  Also is their a way to view or find out who shares your beam?  (at the risk of asking stupid questions...  lol Im a complete infant when it comes to satellite's...  trying hard to educate myself here...  Thanks !!)

No, one dish does not bother the other. The TV dish might need to be aimed again. Call Dish and see if they can do that, or ask them to help you check your signal strength, if it's below 70 on average, you need a service call to have the TV dish and receiver checked and, re aimed or repaired/replaced.

Margaret, there should be no interference being caused by having the two dishes. Almost everyone who has Exede also has either Dish or DirecTV, part of living in the boonies. 

As for your TV having signal problems, Bev has a good suggestion. 

As for being able to see who, how many, or how congested your beam is, I am not aware of anywhere a subscriber can find that information.

Hi Steve on the evst chart it does have a circle for congestion. I've had it red once for short time.

Margaret when I had Wildblue was having lots of trouble with real slow speed as time went by. They came out and tweaked my dish. Helped a little. Then went to Exede and must be on a beam that is not badly congested at this time. All things considered it is way better than the dial-up I had when most time couldn't even get online.

HMC, you are right, there is an icon along the top that will indicate congestion. originally there were indicators of congestion in the lower area, but they were removed a while ago with one of the updates.

I have not seen any "lights".  what or where is the "evst chart"?

Charles, the tool eSVT is available to the direct subscribers of Exede by going to this link https://myesvt.exede.net/

Use the same sign in credentials you use to get to the Dashboard page, which is the one with the usage meter.

I am on the Liberty 12 Plan, windows 10, Chrome browser.  The dashboard shows total usage to date but no lights to indicate how busy the Excede satelite is at the moment.  That is what I really would like access to.Thanks

Sorry we do not offer that feature to what you’re looking for concerning how busy the Exede network is.  All the values we have for the beta version are under Setup & Account, This Subscriber and Peer Subscribers. Thanks for the link, Steve. Looks like it is saying I have a cable problem. I know in the past moisture got in to the cable because the original installer didn't use the right connectors and didn't seal it properly. What is the normal range for cable resistance? Mine is around 3.
I didn't even see anything about congestion on the page though.
These features it is showing on that page would be great if they were on the modem so we wouldn't have to use bandwidth to use it (at least, whichever ones could be available to the modem when internet is down).

The earlier versions of eSVT did have congestion indicators, but they were removed several months ago because they were not accurate, and caused too much confusion to the users and the customer service agents.

Cable resistance should be between zero and 5 ohms, depending on the coax cable length. Te lower the better, mine is about 0.5 ohms with a cable length of about 30 feet.

Ah. My cable had to be longer than 30ft. Now it is saying the cable is fine but my signal is crap. I've been getting less than 5 for signal to noise ratio for the past few days. Even when there are clouds or light rain it's usually 6 or 7-- it does drop to 0 when the storms are excessively bad. I'm going to have to go out and take a look at my dish in the morning to see if something is obstructing it.

Cable lengths can be up to 150 and still meet ViaSat's standards. Naturally, the longer the run, the higher the resistance. However, if your resistance varies with changes in the weather, or moisture, you probably have a problem with either the cable or the connectors.

My signal level was running between 5 and 6 during clear weather since my installation was done in April 2012 and when I started the beta testing of the eSVT tool, it was showing that my dish needed alignment. ViaSat engineer Neil contacted  me suggesting that I have a tech come out and check it out, so earlier this year I signed up for the Customer Care service and had a tech come out. He checked my system, but at the time he showed up it was raining very hard. He hooked up his computer, and my RxSNR was less than 1. He said the dish needed to be repointed, but doubted he could get me a 9 in this rain. After he repointed the dish, he was getting an 8.1 to 8.4 RxSNR, and told me it should be in the 9s once the sky cleared. Since his visit, I normally am seeing 9.3 to 9.6 RxSNR readings on the clearer days, even with some clouds. Apparently the initial installer did not do a good job with aligning the dish. However, I didn't know that my RxSNR reading was a problem, since I was getting speeds of up to 21 Mbps in the earlier years of Exede. It has slowed a bit, but during the day I still see speeds of around 14 to 17, with the evening speeds dropping down in the 10 to 12 range.

You may need to reboot your modem. If you are receiving a good internet connection, I would not worry about it, but if you have no connection, this could indicate that the modem has faulted. If rebooting the modem does not get your connection back, you need to send an email to exedelistens@viasat.com. Include your account number and a phone  number in that email, along with a description of the problem.
