Because most of the sites that do this are programmed by idiots. It's not Exede's fault. There is no way for them to know where you're at when on sat internet and they guess. That's not the idiot part, though. On a lot of them even after you change it, the site changes it right back to where it thinks you are. Home Depot was convinced I lived in Phoenix, Az instead of East TX for a good while and would change it back to Az after I changed it to my right store. I had one order that it changed stores back to Az while I was ordering and the order went to the Phoenix store. They finally fixed it, but Tractor Supply among others still does it. Each time I go to Tractor Supply I get some random store somewhere in East Texas from OK to the Gulf instead of the store I picked. One retailer, don't remember which one, was convinced I was in NJ for a good while.

Walmart is real aggravating. Even though I have my store saved, if I click on a link to Walmart from a Google search Walmart is convinced until I get out of that window that you're wherever Google thinks you are, which is god only knows where, and from then on in that session will only use that location, ignoring the store you have saved.

Must be taunted by all of those "girls that want to meet you" located half-way across the country. ;-)

Hello Ralph,
This is all 100% a script on several different sites to try to "personalize" ads or a service for you. Sometimes they know where you are other times they are way off. Unfortunately, as David said it's all based on the site itself.
