Why are Free Zone speeds so slow lately

We hit our data limit early this time because of an unexpected automatic download. So I've been trying to download my recorded class lessons during the free zone, which is supposed to be from 12 -5 am. For the past week my top download speed has been around 175 KB/sec yet tonight I'm seeing around 50 KB/sec. Im used to seeing much faster speeds during the free zone and have repeatedly reset the modem and router to no avail. When your data has been used are your speeds now reduced during the free zone?

Also forgot to mention that I am getting the same speeds no matter which site I'm downloading from.

Joy, the free zone is being used by many to download large files, game updates and movies/videos/TV programs. This causes the speeds during the free zone on many of the beams to be very slow. May users are using download managers so the can get their sleep and get their downloads too. speeds are sometimes faster during the last few hours of the free zones.

Yes, I understand that. I use the free zone to download large files that would quickly eat my data otherwise. In the past I have seen lots of speed fluctuations up to 2MB/sec at times, but lately it never goes past 175KB/sec no matter what the time is. That's why I'm wondering if my speeds were throttled or capped for some reason.

Only if your free zone is not kicking in as it should. Otherwise you would operate at throttled speeds if you are over the cap.

Hmmm, my usage meter reset and my free zone speeds are back in the MBs/sec. So I guess free zone speeds are limited when you've reached your data limit. Why?

They are not. But it is possible as i said earlier your free zone was not being properly enabled with you modem. If that happened, you remained under throttled speed because the modem didn't reset properly at midnight.
